To encourage more activities for this group I'll start a series of debates... that parodies the TV series Deadliest Warrior. To start off, in this debate let's pit the Soviet Kirov class Heavy Missile Cruiser (with or without nuclear warhead for it's anti-ship missile) against the Iowa class Battleship (80s upgrade). Who will win (if there is a victor)? Fights are 1 on 1 En.wikipedia.org ------------ Do note that while these discussions are less serious than normal ones that does not mean that it's a free for all BS your way to victory type of discussion, so the following is not valid points: 1. Plot Armor/device ------------ Have fun debating! -- ... wait, oh s--t! I've been surrounded by raging modders! The forum is ripe with the stench of gamers! |

I'd have to say the Iowa Class would win, simply because it has more armaments than the Kirov, though I don't know much about modern battle ships, I'm more interested in vessels from the late Renaissance and colonial period. -- Skyrim's number 1 supplier of Iron Daggers and Hide Bracers!

Kirov has the range, Iowa has the brute force & armor. it all comes down to a numbers game with range as the prodomonant variable, and armor as a close second. |

I would bet on the Kirov as long as it's anti-ship missiles are equipped with nuclear warheads and that the battle starts at long range (i.e. both sides fires their anti-ship missiles as soon as they are able). The P-700 Granit's range is longer than that of the Harpoon missile but shorter than that of the Tomahawk Missile (however, the Tomahawk is not meant for naval combat). Otherwise it'll most likely be a tie/standoff as all the anti-ship missiles fired by both sides are all intercepted (in theory anyway, though the random number god would most likely ensure a few missiles are missed by both sides), though the Iowa would have a higher chance of a win as it could afford to be hit by a few missile while the 1 hit to the Kirov could very well be critical. I don't think the Kirov would be stupid enough to get into gun range of the Iowa. -- ... wait, oh s--t! I've been surrounded by raging modders! The forum is ripe with the stench of gamers! |
