The Battle of Grunwald was one of the greatest battles of medieval Europe. On 15 July 1410, Polish and Lithuanian armies (supported by Rusyns, Czech, Moldovans and Tartars) opposing the Teutonic Order with knights from all over Europe.

On that day, about 50,000 men arrived at the battlefield, and a direct clash of mounted cavalry determined the final outcome. A several-hour battle started about noon and lasted until the evening. Battles took place in various areas, sometimes simultaneously.

The battle resulted in a great triumph for Polish and Lithuanian armies. About 8,000 people fell on the Teutonic side, including almost all the senior officers and the Grand Master of the Order, Ulrich von Jungingen.

The battle undoubtedly affected the development and political relationships of Europe. The Polish victory not only demonstrated the power of the Jagiellonian dynasty, but also contributed to the fall of the Teutonic Order. This, in turn, helped to hold off further German expansion to the east for several centuries, and additionally, the common victory strengthened bonds between Poland and Lithuania.
