Default LARGE Profile Image. Thread - Desura

This is just a suggestion and I've mashed a little something together to back it up! (Actually, on the subject of suggestions... Shouldn't "Suggestions" have a Desura forum section of its own?).

Anyway, back on topic... instead of a big blank and black space at the top of a Desura member profile, Couldn't something like the following be made default instead?

And here's how it looks on a Desura App profile...

Anyhoo.... It's just a minor suggestion and I think something along these lines at least would be better than a blank black space as a default.

Your right Orion. Something decent would realy tidy up that spot.

P.S. Is that Mr.Bean disguised as a Vulcan in the 2nd frame ?

Well it used to have a image, or a video in that spot, now it seems to have gone, im guessing its the filtering inplace.
Have to have mark or scott confirm this though.

Just thinking... Something with the Desura logo would be more fitting as a default, rather than the "moddb" logo. I'm thinking the blue white plasma kind of effect (As seen on the group header here for example) and the logo and word "Desura" overlaid on top. If I had the psd file I could mash something up.

I noticed the Jaffa armor afterward. That face !

I agree with the hindsight thought of it being a site oriented image or video as TKAzA mentioned.
Also a decent spot to serve as a place to " hang " an image or video announcing/reminder of current events being highlighted on Desura and/or perhaps her sister site ModDB ( MOTY awards ie. ). Perhaps it could simply be slated as a secondary " flexible" space as needed for ...whatever event or promotions that might come.

i would like to see what you had in mind at some time though if you can manage to get that file.

Without the psd I managed to mash this up using what was available, including the font taken from the Media Kit...

Anyway, I've just realized how naff/out-of-place the white bit at the bottom of the image actually looks... So here's the same image with that bit removed, for anyone who wants to use it.

Very nice! This should be the default, until a user changes it.

the button on the top right launches the current page into your default browser.

Regardless of what I try, I cannot get this on my Desura profile. I know how the procedure but it simply doesn't work.
Works fine on ModDB, but not Desura. Am I missing something or is it a glitch of some sort ?

You need to add it to your desura user profile not your moddb one (they vary slightly). Ive done it for you any way. ill talk to scott and see if we can get this as default

Bloody brilliant U have come up with a really good suggestion!!

Whilst that looks good, problem is if I make it the default you get sick of seeing it eventually. hence I feel blank though boring is a better option. besides, we want to encourage people to upload custom backgrounds...!

Good point is good and agreed! It's there anyway for if peeps wanna use it.
