Description

A somewhat, unrealistic picture of a Byzantine Empress leading an army.
Women in Byzantium were considered the intellectual equals of men, and were allowed in stations of power, (The Senate, owning business, and so on.) However the military was one of the only vocations that were women were not allowed, as, (By Byzantine reasoning) women were intellectually equal with men, but not physically.
