It was an usual day on Sirius6B. I had the crew gathered for a meeting in the command bunker. A cargo plane approached our base. All seemed to be well. The plane was clear for landing. Suddenly the radar picked up something in its shadow. We couldn’t identify what it was so our anti air batteries locked on to it. They couldn’t fire without hitting the cargo plane. We catched this on the radio: “We’re hit, mayday mayday losing altitude.” Out of seemingly nowhere, explosions rocked our base, first one then two then another. The SAM batteries opened fire, but the target vanished. Then the cargo plane came crashing down on the landing strip. It blew up on contact with the ground in frighteningly glorious fashion. While slithering on the runway it crashed into the tower, which then collapsed.
I was in the command bunker when it happened. Could see it all. The explosions, probably from ordnance of that unidentified target, they hit the power plant and the construction yard. I went outside, a rescue team was already on the way.
The air was filled with black smoke and a disgusting smell of burning oil. I approached the collapsed tower.
Then things started to get unreal, the earth began to shake. Was it an earthquake? Now and here? Impossible. I could see a large hole opening, a sort of vehicle buried it’s way out of the ground! It was Nod’s newest creation, a subterranean APC (armored personnel carrier). As the doors opened we grabbed our weapons. Men came out of the APC, I could hear gunshots in the distance, there must have been more I thought. We opened fire. They returned it. Several of my men fell as we retreated to the command bunker.
The situation was dire, apart from the command bunker the base was almost taken over. Some men still resisted at the refinery and the power plant. I couldn’t see anyone from my crew. Doc came with me with the rescue team, but I lost him in the confusion. Van and Clank must still be inside the bunker somewhere I thought. I expected Kashima and Jess to be fighting at either the refinery or power plant. Illona was in the cellar. Over the radio I gave one final call to all remaining forces:”Stand your ground, fight to the bitter end. For Kane!” I went downstairs to the cellar. It was dark. I could see two people… a familiar voice called for me… then I saw a third person lying on the ground. “...he/she is dead BC.”
