I know this is only supposed to be a joke, but I hope you won't mind if I ask you about it: it seems to me that many of the atheists here believe that religion is a corrosive thing. That is, they seem to think of it not so much as a belief, but as a tool used to control people.
While I agree that it is possible, and even likely that religions are often used by certain people to gain followers, I don't see why so many of you consider religion bad.
Here is my reasoning: "Say a bunch of stuff, then be misinterpreted by millions of people for the next few millennia?"
If Christians are those who follow the word of Christ, and many people, even those who consider themselves Christians, misinterpret the word of Christ, then who is really Christian?
My point is, how can you make judgements on a religion based on the actions of people who don't follow that religion?
There is a difference between Organized Religion and Belief... Would you deny the Catholic Church used Christianity to maintain absolute control in Europe for roughly 1000 years? And should I mention the organized religion of Islam?
Religion at it's roots is the interpretation of the holy word. Except by people who are in control as opposed to average citizens. Many people don't bother reading the bible and just get their priest to interpret it for them, and in the Dark Ages this was mandatory... And studies show a majority of Christians know very little about the bible itself.
Ah! You see, that's exactly what I mean! It is the people who are in control that are making the problems, so why does religion get the bad rap?
And to answer your question, I wouldn't deny crime in the Catholic Church: just as with certain people, it is not a Christian/Catholic thing, but a thing that is claimed to be Christian/Catholic (and isn't).
Lol

P.S. Sorry for being Sir Buzzkillington.
