The Witnesses of Jehova indirectly killed people already by rejecting them blood transfusions because they have some rule called "you must not drink the blood of someone else/Jesus".

You know...you got me thinking again...

I always thought religion as a whole could be one of two things: either the worst genocide and atrocity ever brought into the human race, or the gateway to 'salvation'. Of course everyone who likes to cloud their minds will try to believe it's the 2nd. I'd like everyone to remember how when Christianity was at it's top influence, we were in the Dark Ages. When we got pulled out by the enlightenment period; notice the increase in technology and ATHEISM. The logic and understanding destroyed the old ways and yet people still cling on, denying that their religion has been dis-proven.

It's typical of a web of lies to really hurt and confuse people who were raised under that impression... For instance, my sister is a total Christian; completely under the veil of the 'salvation' at hand. She is completely brainwashed, as proven when I tried talking to her about logic and doubt. She seriously just repeated lines she heard from our brainwashed parents and tried to avoid whatever I said instead of countering it.

I was recently taken to Church against my will lately (I would've got the **** beat out of me if I said no), and there I expected to hear at least SOME logic to use in defense of Christianity's dying regime. Instead, I was met with songs about how awesome God is and how he 'set us free'. You know what would set us free? Open-mindedness; something religious people are too scared to allow in fear of 'heresy'.

Anyway I'm Agnostic, but I've lately had to side with Atheists because of the lack of any logic at all. I'm tired of the brainwashing and lies; if a God should come forth and reveal himself, he wouldn't do so under the impression that we were all forced to hear his word. I even thought I heard Christians mention that God said we have free will? Yet we cannot doubt his existence. Sounds great!

My mother left Christianity (her middle name, literally) and took to Buddhism, and My father is very atheist, he thinks gods were Aliens, which actually makes more sense than the churches explanation.

Also because of the church's influence the Black plague was able to spread much more easily. Since the church began persecuting cats, which eat rodents, which carry fleas, which held the plague.
So no more cats = shitton of rats.
Half of Europe dead because of intolerance.

The greatest problem I personally see with it is to believe that the superstitions are real - all of them, even the ones who contradict each other. While I am tolerant towards the opinions of other people, I demand some common sense and logic and I start asking drill questions if they cannot provide it.

During my debattes with Yuribeat5 for example I noticed how he avoided my questions and bought up unreasonable arguments and scientific sources that are neither scientific nor even valid sources (as in, a link to a funny looking website with some cutesy text and animations, but no scientific proof or links to other works whatsoever - I countered with Timecube for a few laughs). In other words, he didn't answer any of my questions, just resorting to repeating the same mantra over and over, while denying any of my arguments and allegories out of hand. While flaming me for apparently doing the same. In other words, he's not only an illogical liar but also a hypocrite.

Which leads us to where we find the root problem. Hypocricy. People as fanatic as him have lost all sense for the actual world, instead resorting to some kind of belief in a deity that is most unlikely to even exist, rejecting careful arguments while spouting out their own nonsense like there's no tomorrow. They call atheists deluded, mislead and cold-hearted for apparently not being willing to look at other ways of explanation why the universe works, while doing the VERY SAME THING with any scientific explanations we bring up.

I have recently gotten the documentary movie "Jesus Camp" (2006, by Rachel Grady) which is about a group of children preparing for a summer camp which is actually about brainwashing children into mindless, doubtless believers of whatever they are told there. CHILDREN. BEING BRAINWASHED.

I have to agree with you. The one thing that I have always been against and caught my eye was the brainwashing. When a child is raised under a Christian family they are told right then and there "the reason you exist is because God let you, and so you should love God!"

Children are so easily brainwashed by this crap because they will believe anything you tell them! I had a discussion with my Christian father earlier about how if you train a child to become a serial killer, he will become a serial killer. He countered me with that the child has 'a choice' so I responded with "Did I make ANY decisions for myself when I was a kid? No...you guys did that..."
