In celebration of me recently (About a week ago) really watching Totoro for the first time, I am posting this image.
It was certainly not a bad movie, I enjoyed it thoroughly. However, I came in with expectations and got something completely different then those expectations.
I have to say, it was not the best or most interesting Anime movie I've ever watched, but it definitely deserves a place on any Anime-Goer's shelves. It left me with more questions then it answered, and I think for it's case that's a good thing.
The animation style is charming and fluffy, the the characters were definitely great and written well, the voice acting wasn't too great for the English dub though. Unfortunately, the story felt a little too flat to me. Most of the length was spent on great shots and environmental display, and almost nothing was really explained. They dipped into a few things here and there, but I feel like it could have been much better.
I love My Neighbor Totoro and Mei and the Kittenbus!
I Don't know what you mean by the story fell a little flat though..
Me too! And Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke and Grave of the Fireflies as well. Man, childhood! :D
By it fell a little flat I mean, it just built up this huge hype-factor to it, promising a lot, and then before I knew it the movie was over...
As far as anime movies go, you should also try Grave of the Fireflies.
