i havent heard a fretless bass, hos can you get the right chords without it? ._.
AFAIK fretless guitar/bass produces more flexible tones than the ones with frets.
the exact same way how people play violins, cellos, contrabasses and shitload of other fretless instruments.
it takes some practice, but after some time you begin to "feel" where to put your fingers to get the desired tone.
