Why, oh why is dialogue not thought through?
It's not JUST japan! It's everywhere!

The dialogue just doesn't translate right ...
I've always assumed they mean't when you kill someone they would turn into a spirit or the undead rather than fully "die"
that's the glory of fansubbing and engrish for you. :P
