Fruits Basket
Synopsis
----------
Tohru Honda is 16 year old orphaned girl who gets invited to live in the house of her classmate, the handsome boy Sohma Yuki, and his cousins, 16 year old Kyo and 27 year old Shigure. However, these young men and parts of the rest of their family (both close and distant) hold a curse; if they are hugged by the opposite gender, they transform into animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Everyday is an adventure for sweet Tohru, as she gets to know everyone in the large family better (especially Yuki and Kyo), in both common and bizarre situations. But, the Sohma Family curse is certainly no laughing matter... it also holds horrible cruelity and heartbreak.

I don't understand Fruits Basket ... I mean ... it was good, but it wasn't as awesome to me as people make it out to be ...
Although the ending was unexpected, the story just seemed a bit weak at best ... I was going to say they didn't use any story telling mechanisms as a reason, but now that I think about it they really did use alot of mechanisms ... I guess it just didn't "hit" me as a great story.
Also (off topic), After realizing how much romantic comedy I've actually watched, I been thinking of how I would go about making a unique series that would stand out from the rest (considering they seem to blend a bit together) ... and the story I came up with turned out to be a total mindfuck ... in the end I wasn't sure if it still was a comedy or if my story evolved into an extremely heartbreaking tragedy ... you can only laugh at a main character's misfortune so much until you cross the boundry of sympathy :/ ...
CLANNAD... just CLANNAD. One of the sadest anime, especially for romance, I have seen yet if not THE sadest. Also, tell us more about your idea :D
Oh yea, i heard of it ... but mine is more of a complex range of emotions rather than "oh, my wife died :*("
at the end the character goes through a range of emotions all simultaneously, hate, sadness, love, basically just lots of emotional confusion ...
The main guy character is basically the one who is the driving force in a relationship, however, the main girl character also loves him back, but seems to be hiding something so devastating that she goes through periods of pushing him away and wanting to be closer to him ...
As the series goes along, the love between them would grow deeper and there would be subtle foreshadowing about what she is hiding. However, no matter how much the main guy character tries, he cannot get her to date him even though he is certain that she likes him.
As for the ending, I'm not going to spoil because, well, I'm a firm believer in happy endings, but the situation the guy is put in is so bad I'm not sure if it's possible to have a happy ending >_> ...
Hmm, seems you got something in there, care to talk about it more? Seems interesting ^^
ive seen this before.... once again back when i was in the old school i was wayy busy to watch it
