Lelouch Lamperouge is a seemingly ordinary 17-year-old student at Ashford Academy.
But, he has a secret.
He is Lelouch vi Britannia, the exiled son of the Emperor of Britannia and the late Empress.
After his mother was assassinated, he was forced to flee to Japan.
However, shortly after this, Britannia attacked Japan and conquered it with the help of the powerful Knightmare Frames, powerful combat mecha, because of the high amount of Sakuradite in this country, which is an important high energy mineral.
With the conquering of Japan, it was officially renamed to "Area 11"
As he got caught up in a battle between rebels and oppressors, he got the powerful "Geass" or the "Power of King", which lets him give an order to an individual.
And so he, with a new identity hiding his true face, calling himself "Zero", he starts fighting against the British Oppressors.
