well, I also don't really watch digimon (same with pokemon actually), I only watched the Adventure series (earlier seasons).
but the movie is worth to watch. unlike the TV serial that generally boring, the movie are more action-packed.

I was never into crap like this :/ I grew up watching DBZ, Escaflone, Yu Yu Hakusho, 3x3 Eyes, Elfen Lied, Ergo Proxy, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Hell Girl, FLCL, Black Lagoon, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Ruroni Kenshin, Wolfs Rain Exc.

As far as im concerned this was always just another generic cartoon that posed as anime.

The odd thing is i grew up on none of these ...

I grew up on Tenchi Muyo and Outlaw Star from toonami. At the time i thought it was the coolest shows ever in the history of cartoons, but I didn't realize it was anime.

I didn't really start watching anime until late in high school :o

Samurai Champloo on adult swim is what got me really hooked.

Yea that one is brilliant. Samurai Champloo 4tw

Also to all the twats who spammed meh with negative karma .... **** you anime is an art form not some generic cartoon **** for kids >> Its thanks to wanks like you we haven't had a decent anime series for so long.

Thankfully Deadman Wonderland is coming along quite well to redeem all this. Hopefully we can get more anime of it quality or better down the road.

woah, woah, hold it dear.
don't use your preferance to determine something is a "troo anime" or not. if like that you'll probably said almost all 80's anime are not anime. kiddie themes, bizzaro logics, teh heroic good vs teh evulz, and a lot of slapstick jokes. aren't they like the "generic cartoon"?
don't be too elitist to your preferable anime and calling the rest as cartoon ripoffs. not all cartoons are for kids, also not all anime are serious themed or m-rated grim darkness.
the reason why japanese cartoon (aka anime) developed better than western cartoon is because anime are cartoon that provided for wider audience.
about no decent anime lately, I agree with that. but it's not because of them "copying" western cartoon. everything looks dumbed down in these years. not only anime, but also hollywood movies, console games, etc.
actually I'm glad our childhood are filled with good animes/cartoons. and now I wonder if there's still good anime/cartoon that really for kids.

Yea actually yes they copying western comics primarily those made by marvel since they made a deal. They are pretty much remaking Iron Man and X-men in a anime format.

As for the anime for kids im not saying that its bad its that there is too much of it these days and its phasing out the more mature anime genera. There hasn't been any anime for an adult audience capable of drawing a mass following since well GITS, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and Ruroni Kenshin for examples. Hell there hasn't been a proper anime movie of a similar visual quality since Jin Roahs Wolfs Brigade, and Hayao Miyazaki / Toshio Suzuki's film Howls Moving Castle and others like it.

And those who do these days often rely on cheap CG animation which honestly is overused these days. Serious artistic anime is slowly dieing out and being replaced by a sea of generic kiddy crap. Hell the older kids anime are better than most of the **** they produce now a days.

correction: replaced by a sea of ecchi *****.
making this ***** are far easier and surprisingly sells. that's why producers keeps making them. while "serious anime" generally harder to make and not always sells well. :/
I even don't see something that's kiddie these days. I think anime now more become something like how korean drama to the koreans.
but I still don't see why anime are copying western comics. Marvel's Iron Man and X-Men anime just made last year, but the quality degeneration already seen from few years before them. I think the main problem is the ecchi ***** that often produced and long term anime that never end. it's a sad truth, anime is business, for producers profit over anything.
