You Are Empty takes place in 1955 in alternative Soviet Union, where Joseph Stalin still reigns. In an attempt to ensure the global victory of Communism, the government has constructed a massive psychic antenna to broadcast a reality-altering signal designed to transform the population of the Soviet Union into supermen. However, the experiment goes horribly wrong, and most of the population is either killed or transformed into homicidal mutants.

This is a tutorial, originally made by Cluster, for how to update this beloved game and play with HD textures. Later it was extended with ReShade (which adds more atmosphere into game) and updated files. This is a translated compact version of it (link to original tutorials and full information is down below), so all references in text goes to him.
- What's included:

- Installation:
- Download the build
- Launch and setup:
- Launch the game, setup, play
Shaders settings overlay - Home key;
- Recommendations:
- Launch time, because of textures, will increase a bit;
- ReShade turns off by pressing End button, you can turn it off completely by renaming opengl32.dll in the game folder;
- Don't forget to setup the brightness (gamma) for yourself with ingame menu (I tweaked it with consideration of the work of external ReShade-wrapper and configuration of my monitor);
- I highly recommend to turn on frame lmiter (I limited to 60 fps) in driver control pannel settings. Otherwise, there will be a problem with "dropping" image.
- If you want to play with weapon normal maps, you can find in C:\Users\*Name*\Documents\My Games\YaE\config_engine configuration file ds2engine.cfg, there change:
use_shaders 1
use_normalmaps 1
In this case, the error will occur during loading, that can be skipped with Enter - the game will load.
Limitations:
- graphical artifacts are possible with use_shaders 1 and use_normalmaps 1!
- the last working with the game version of ReShade is 5.5.0!!! Do not update the ReShade, or else the game won't launch!

GUYS HELP ME OUT !!
I dowloaded the english version of the game. Then installed it.
I downloaded the russian version of the game, extracted upscale textures from that version, put it in my installed game.
Cracked the game.
All is working fine, but when I start a new game, it plays the first cutscene then a complete black screen but the game is running..
If I install only the english version of the game (without upscale texture) or install only the russian version , there is another problem.
Somehow my game menu and game screen is shifted towards the right side and not fit in my laptop screen properly. How to fix this !??
I installed all related files like openal etc
I am on windows 10.

Abyone else missing floor textures? The floor is black, stairs, bathroom tiles and metro walls and some streets are just pitch black. Using AMD card and Win10. Thanks.
When I made the first and sadly the only comment here nearly four years ago this place was a wasteland, nice to see people are giving some love to this underrated game.
How do i change language to English since it came as default Russian ?
1) Install ENG version
2) Download and unpack the archive into the game folder \You Are Empty\gameres\textures

3) Archive with letter textures

The *.DDS files from the archive must be moved to the folder (with replacement!):

P.S I would like to say right away that the translation was made with the help of DeepL. There may be translation inaccuracies and problems related to the peculiarities of the Russian language! :)
After starting a new game, first cutscene video plays..then there is a black screen. How long does it take to load !??
My system specs is intel i5 11400h, rtx 3050ti 4gb, 16gb ddr5 ram.
