Tyto Online brings real learning to a futuristic virtual world while keeping the essence of what makes games fun and addicting. We are creating an educational MMORPG -- using quest-based learning with a story line, and learning as part of the actual game mechanics, not just layered on top of it. Despite great innovations, Earth’s decline was not abated, and the planet eventually became a wasteland. Humans began leaving the only home they had ever known; billions of people have already been evacuated in large ships called Pathfinders, which hold tens of thousands of people in a cryogenically preserved state for the voyage. The player awakens from cryosleep as they arrive to this new world after having been recruited into Tyto Academy, which only accepts students with the utmost potential. As a new Tytonian, they must learn everything they can, explore the new worlds, and research Earth’s past in a mission to one day restore Earth.

They've had a few press pieces start rolling in quickly. In chronological order, and with one of a quote from each:

"Immersed Games’ New Online MMO is Going to Invade Classrooms Everywhere" -Twinfinite

"A nifty features is that teachers will be able to assign quests and objectives for their students to complete in-game, as well as receive reports of the players’ progress. But the game is definitely not limited to this use and will still be open for recreational gaming."

"Tyto Online, Educational MMO, Star Wars Shirts" -Cliqist

"Anyone who knows who Leeroy Jenkins is can relate to the incredible amount of knowledge that makes the difference between utter failure and great success in an MMO."

"@ Kickstarter MMO Serious Game As A Platform For Cross-Learning Opportunities" -Serious Games Market

"In the game, players will be solving puzzles, decrypting history, meeting interesting characters, exploring alien landscapes, tracking discoveries with their Biodex, leveling skills, learning real-life information after game missions and assembling groups of friends to complete quests."
