It's been a while since there have been any new updates, but the wait is finally over. Currently, there is a beta server running with a massive update. The entire lobby system has been rebuilt, improved, and optimized. The best part is that anyone can now test out the new update.
So, what's new? Let me explain in more detail: In the first part, the entire lobby behavior has been rewritten to be more faithful to the original design. This means that lobbies are no longer spread across the entire map but are now area-based, as seen in the screenshot showing the map and players with circles. With this new lobby system, player invitations are now possible in freeroam, in addition to races which were already available.
Another exciting addition is the ability to invite players to your home. The house is synchronized, meaning that the invited player sees the interior of the host's home. Any changes made to the house are also synchronized, ensuring that everyone sees the same updates. Additionally, vehicles in the garage are now synchronized and updated when changes are made, including synced paint jobs.
The lobby system has also received a Ghost/Bad Host Detection feature. It attempts to connect players through alternative routes if collisions occur. Players with green/yellow NAT, with or without port forwarding, are tested beforehand to ensure a seamless connection. This significantly simplifies hosting lobbies and provides a smoother experience for everyone involved.
Numerous bugs have been fixed, and significant optimizations have been made in the background to enhance overall performance. However, the exact release date for this update is still uncertain as it is currently in development.
If you participate in the beta test and actively contribute to testing, there's even a possibility of receiving a special beta jacket. So, it's definitely worth being part of the beta test to experience the update firsthand.
