Tachyon Wars client 1.1.13 English
Jun 27, 2011 Full Version 0 commentsCurrent Tachyon Wars client, multiplayer online slow-real space strategy game.
Strategy will be based on these basic actions:
1. simplified colonies control (to avoid micromanagement and allow player to think globally)
2. ship design and production
3. interplanetary resource management
4. reconnaissance, space diversions, fleet battles
5. research, 100+ ship modules, about 30 unique ship hulls, planet technologies
6. diplomacy - the main part in the game
7. other stuff.. :)
Game is based on parties, each party usually lasts a couple of months, so this is not a online permanent world, yet. So, classic 4X game, where you've got one colony and a couple of ships in the start of the game. And gradually, you are growing, meet your neighbours, who may become your friends or foe, and finally - to the domination!

This is technical web site, don't expect fancy graphics there :) But it has very essential functions, which will allow you to generate your own parties and play them.
The steps to start your own party:
1. Register your account (very lightweight registration without email confirmation)
2. Queue for the party. Temporary, race params are auto-generated.
3. If four or more persons queued, party will get scheduled for start after 3 days. During this time it's still possible to join party for another players - invite your friends!
4. After 3 days party will start. You need to download and run client, enter your login info and there you will see and will be able to load & play your game party.
Good luck!
If you want just try the game - then simply download client, login as test/test (already embedded in the client's login fields) account and see already running parties, which in the same way you may control, with the only difference that those games "already were being played by someone". :)
Client and feedback will still be available on this great website:

This game looks very cool.
any chance of a mac version?
Interesting game. I will keep an eye on it! From you screenshots the 2d GUI seems a little, I dunno... basic/budget. Your 3d models look really nice though. =)
I see what you did there with tachyons*.
*=Theoretical particles which travel faster than light hence would have the ability to create temporal manipulation devices.
Alex4921 - exactly :)
Tachyon in the name - to underline future technologies, space topic..
This looks interesting.
You have sparked my interest. You will be getting my testing support. -thumbs up- Keep up the good work.
If you want to take part in next game party - consider to register for it on the forum.
God some people just don't want to read more when a developer says "micro transactions or item mall". Both terms don't mean buy in-game items from shop. Its just that for a game to remain or be free the developer incorporates this service shop as a way to generate money to continue running the game. Sometimes(almost always sadly) mmo developers just throw crap that destroy the balance of the game and give power to the buyer.
From what johny5.coder said it will be more closely to how the Guild Wars shop works, name changes, character sex and physical appearance changer, more storage space, cosmetic costumes, unlock all pets for pvp or pve, etc etc.
That doesnt make the game bad and shouldnt make you hate it.
Inventory space is a bitch, though.
More precisely the game is slow realtime (ship flies from star to star during hours), but to distinguish from RTS (real-time strategies), I usually say that this is "something similar to turn based game", where action is not so high, but strategy, planning and diplomacy instead.
Battles exist in kind of "parallel universe" - when 2 fleets clash on the starmap, new battle initiated. Battle is calculated automatically in real-time, and you can see only the result, without direct control. There should be fleet tactics included, but not yet for now.
