I don't get it... why would anyone buy the regular game if this exists?

This game is 20 years old, nobody needs to pay Activision for abandonware.

I'm pretty sure this one fixes all of the launch problems the game has and fixes all of the bugs in the game if you buy the gog version, you have to do it manually

its pirated, but its literally abandonware so why buy the game if none of the money goes to Raven who made this fantastic game.

I tried that as well SOF.exe (32 bit) shows up on the task bar but never launches to the screen. I am running a 64bit Win 10 box. Any suggestions. I played this game years ago, and would like to pick it back up again if their are some folks out there still playing.

FIXED. I remembered an old trick from my Windows XP or 7 days. Just rename the SOF.exe to mohaa.exe. That will allow it to run for you. Let me know if this helped. It worked for me.

Copy and paste the file called "Sof.exe" in the game directory. Then rename the copied file as "mohaa.exe", and start using that.

This worked for me also! ... but why lmao what* does Medal of Honor Allied Assault have to do with it? Or can you just rename it whatever you want? That's funny lol thanks for the fix.

Thanks for the fix. For the record, though, you don't need to specifically name it "mohaa.exe" you can rename it to literally anything. For instance, "SoldierofFortune.exe" works just fine.

Running great on Windows 10 1080p 120Hz with 95' FOV.
If you have problem starting the game, you must copy "SOF.exe" to the desktop, rename it to "SOF_.exe", then copy again it to the base game folder, start the game using "SOF_.exe".
For better aiming with mouse you want to disable mouse acceleration. To do that, open up "C:\...\Soldier of Fortune\User\config.cfg" and change line from "set m_cursor_accel "1"" to  "set m_cursor_accel "0"".

Renaming the executable to SoF_.exe solves the problem on launch (nothing happened). But then goes an error "LoadLibrary("defsnd.dll") failed"
