Soldat is an action packed shareware 2d shooter. Don't let the lack of the 3rd dimension get to you, because this it's an action packed game drawing on the roots of many popular titles. Weapons are chosen in a Counter-Strike style, and the weapons are modern machine, and sub machine guns of the CS style. The landscapes and view are vaguely Worms like, except everything is guns blazing realtime instead of turn based.
Soldat delivers in the gameplay department as well, packing in 5 game modes from capture the flag to team deathmatch. Sideview maps can be created with the editor. New weapons and graphics can be made along with interface changes.

hey guys i cant get any games because when i tey to update it it says that the server tag isnt right
Did you install the latest update via Desura?
Also which version of Soldat do you have? You can find the version number on the Exit tab in the bottom left corner (it should be 1.6.3)
Ahh.. loved this game. Yeh remember having problems eventually. Or it went adware. Strange that updates are not handled by desura client. :(
It has Open Candy if that's what you are talking about but its not really adware.
It is annoying that Desura can't be used for updates also the Desura version can't be updateed to the latest verion at the moment but I compained about that and it should be fixed by the time anybody reads this comment--if not you can download Soldat and stick it into the Desura common folder but then there really isn't much benefit to using Desura.
I just uploaded the new version. Once it's verified there should be no problem.
AVG had a heart attack, said it was a virus.
It has Open Candy in it because it is a free game.
Open Candy is crapware not spyware and AVG can be used to just delete Open Candy and the rest of the game will be fine. Open Candy isn't redownloaded in updates.
Nice to see the free version is Fixed!
