One of the best known mods (having won the $1,000,000 NVIDIA Make Something Unreal contest) - just got better and is now available in game-format. Guess what? They have an unprecidented level of mod support and will provide official tools, tips, tutorials and support to help establish, nurture and build a big mod scene. You can't beat that, this games background or the UT engine it is built upon. A game to play and mod - that pits players in scale combat during one of the most intense and grueling warfare moments in history; the Eastern Front conflict of World War II.

My First RO Map - just run the .exe to autoinstall.

Background
July 7th 1941

The Axis advance in the first weeks of Barbarossa was incredibly successful, the Soviet forces on most fronts being virtually paralysed by the blow and the Soviet high command seemingly reluctant to accept the reality of their situation.

One of the few pockets of resistance to the onslaught in the those first dark weeks was on the South-Western front centred around Rovno in the Ukraine, where the 5th army tried a counteroffensive against the 1st Panzer Army group along the Rovno-Dubno axis. This happened at the end of June and was momentarily successful.

The counterattack, however, soon fizzled out and the Soviet high command called a general retreat in the area on the 30th June. Red units were either surrounded or fled headlong. This map covers the retreat of remnants of the 228th rifle division through the fictional village of Makhnovo, just north of Rovno around July 7th and their encounter with the unusually well-equipped German 25th Motorised Infantry Division.

Objectives

In this map it is the axis who have to do all the work - it is a large map with substantial distances to cover. There are three objectives which must fall in sequence:

1 - Poshta (Post Office-cum-Hotel)
2 - Station telegraph office (2nd floor of station building)
3 - Church of St Paraskeviya (no longer used for masses but dominates landscape around)

They are all un-recappable.

Each side has 200 reinforcements and the time limit is 30 minutes.

Tactics

Axis - it is possible, though incredibly difficult, to win without using the halftracks in a co-ordinated manner. It is impossible to even cap the first objective without co-ordinating attacks on the objectives as a team.

Allies - victory is achieved by balancing having large numbers of men in the cap zones with having some troops covering main approach routes waiting to take out HT's that get too careless.

This map has been described as being tough on both sides and it certainly can be a slog at any stage - remember that a team that doesn't work together is absolutely lost on this map.

Thanks

Thanks are due to the many people whose suggestions and support have helped me continue the difficult process of bringing out my first map. In no particular order special thanks are due to:
