So its been a while since an update... What have we been doing you ask?

-Working up a player model

-Fine tuning the inventory system

To explain the first, no one helping on RZ is a 3d artist yet. One of our group is aspiring to, and is heading off shortly for college, where she will be studying 3d art and animation. With the recent loss of this individual I've taken it upon myself to learn the trade until we find a replacement.

My first project will be the creation of a heroine... followed by a hero. I've managed to find a basic model, and have been adapting/sculpting/updating it for a day or two now. The next update should show her in all her glory.

That aside.

The inventory programming has been difficult. Since everyone on the crew had never programmed before, it was quite a learning curve. Currently we've managed to create the inventory data management system. Our test pistol, just yesterday managed to pass from existing in the world, translating itself into the inventory, equip into the primary slot, was able to fire, and finally being transferred back and forth between all its incarnations, didn't lose any data concerning itself or it's ammo counts.

While unimpressive sounding, it was a big win for team RZ. Now with that same data class we can create pistols, shotguns, ARs, Sniper Rifles, etc. Giving our world many new interesting things that go boom.

Next on our agenda is the incorporation of the hero models as well as the creation of several weapons for the test environment. If all goes well the player should be able to seamlessly transfer from Third-Person view, to First Person view.

After that there will be a serious re-examination / restructuring of the zombies AI.
