INTRO

COMBAT QUAKE III ARENA is a mod for id Software's most recent first-person shooter, Quake 3: Arena. Inspired by a subgame in the classic Atari title of the same name, you are a crack tank commander pitted against tank drivers like yourself in a variety of malevolently-designed arenas, forced to fight for pie, cake, and your very survival (insert maniacal laughter).
----------
GAMEPLAY
----------
You fight from an overhead perspective (looking down at your tank and the rest of the arena) against bots (artificially-intelligent computer-generated buzzword buzzword opponents) or against other humans online with your treaded vehicle's machine gun and mortar cannon. Support gametypes include everything included in base Quake 3: Arena:
-Deathmatch
-Team Deathmatch
-Tournament
-Capture the Flag
There are 13 arenas to do battle in: 12 deathmatch maps and 1 CTF map. Maps will either occupy one screen, and the overhead camera will remain fixed, or will occupy several. In the latter case for larger maps, the camera will do one of two things depending on the mapper's preference:
-Remain fixed over your tank as your tank moves throughout the level
-Remain fixed over a map segment; when your tank scrolls off screen, it will reappear at the edge of another segment, in a fashion similar to the top-down perspective Zelda games.
---------------
FIRING SYSTEM
---------------
As noted above, you have a mortar cannon (with an initial arsenal of 20 shells), and a machine gun (with 100 rounds). The mortar shells pack 1000 points of damage per hit, so it'll be a complete fluke if you manage to survive a hit. This drastically reduces the average lifespan of a player, so you'll have to ramp up your twitch reflexes if you hope to do well in our arenas. If you're reduced to using the machine gun... well, god help you.
Furthermore, you can elevate and depress your turret by binding keys to these commands:
+lookup/-lookdown
default key: page up / page down
This will allow you to shoot over map obstacles. However, the default mortar velocity is rarely conducive to such endeavors, so there are also commands to raise and lower your mortar shell's firing velocity:
powerup/powerdown
default key: o / p
Finally, in case you need to slow down the rate at which the velocity is being changed, you can bind a key to this command (and hold it down while changing your power):
+powermodifier
default key: i

HOW TO PLAY / START A SERVER
------------------------------
When you first install Combat, you should go into the SETUP menu and select "DEFAULTS". This will reset all of your configurations to the Combat defaults. You should tweak your settings appropriately afterwards.
Starting the Combat client or server is pretty straightforward... it's the same as launching Quake 3 normally except adding:
+set fs_game combat
That's it.

MISCELLANEOUS
---------------
A SDK for people extending the base content in Combat will be made available shortly, as well as a map pack with more CTF and other maps.
If you have complaints, comments, or suggestions, feel free to send them to Adnan at skew@telefragged.com.
Finally, thanks for trying Combat!

Seems Nice... :D
bots?
Qwasrepo,
It does support bots, and has a ton of custom personalities. You can find them through the multiplayer menu or the bots menu when in game.

please make standalone
This sounds like the Tanks minigame on Wii Play, only better.
