You play as Bass, a mutate pony that even if he doesn't remember his past or his origin, he tried to make a life "playing the hero" in the city of Rio Del Pegaso. It doesn't go well as the citizens slandered whenever he tried to help. One time, the city was attacked and almost destroyed, and Bass was put with all the blame he didn't commit. Seeing this, Celestia summons Bass for a test... a test of friendship.
He is assigned temporarily to Twilight Sparkle as apprentice until he proves that he is ready for the responsibility of Guardian of Equestria. But this test will awaken more that just his heart...
