And the secret is finally out of the bag, Pathea Games' next project is officially revealed at Game Developers Conference 2012. We've been working hard on this project since August of 2011, so it's been a while, and we're excited to be finally showing it to the public.
With Planet Explorers, we're trying to advance the sandbox building genre that's been the rage since Minecraft. We think there are a lot of potential in this genre still waiting to be unlocked, and we plan to implement lots of cool ideas in Planet Explorers that will push the boundaries above and beyond what current sandbox games offer.
For one thing, we have smoothed out the voxel terrain so that it looks more realistic. We have also figured out a way to rebuild the voxel data on the fly to ensure an open world. With these technologies, we aim to ensure as much freedom as possible to the player. We'll dive deeper on what those possibilities are in future posts. But for now, enjoy the trailer and screens!
As a side note, the game right now is pre-alpha, we pretty much got it up and running in competent form just days before GDC. The plan right now it to have a beta version out by July. For more information and updates regarding the game, visit Planet Explorers' page.
