Phobia: The fear of the Darkness is a first person survival horror game, where you have to complete a variety of puzzles in a creepy environment in order to find out the story of the house, while avoiding zombie like monsters.
David was on his way to his new job outside the town, when a sudden snow storm caused him to crash his car in a middle of nowhere. Which forced him to take shelter from a cursed mansion, in where his only hope of getting out alive is to break the curse of the house.
Phobia: The fear of the Darkness was originally released in 2010 in The Game Creators forums, and it was never really meant to go further than the forums.
It was just a small project I did when wanting to make my own game after getting inspiration from games like Penumbra and Scratches.
With interesting ideas and a creepy atmosphere, but poor game design and borrowing of music and sounds from Frictional Games Penumbra series; Some love it, while some hate it.
There has been a sequel released for this game, with a much better game design in every way possible: PHOBIA 1.5 Indie DB
FIXED IN version 1.3 (1.2.2014):
-Made the possible first enemy encounter better.
-Fixed a bug where the script for the opening of ventilation hatch would get stuck sometimes.
-Made the ladder easier to climb in the laboratory.
-Added a hint for an easier escape from the laboratory.
-Slightly Lowered the volume of the footstep sounds.
-The game might crash on a loading screen occasionally.
This fixes itself by reloading the level again.
-It is possible, though very rare to get stuck.
If this happens; use crouch to unstick.
-It's possible to fall through the map in some areas.
This will happen less likely if you don't rush around.

Starts off showing promise, with it being so dark you start creeping yourself out! But, sadly as soon as you turn the generator on, the whole game just falls apart. Dreadful physics and more irritating than scary monsters that just make the game impossible. And also, the game crashed just as I was about to burn the house down! If you could make the game less broken and keep the house in darkness, then the game would be a whole lot better. Oh, and is that stolen Penumbra music? Sorry for the negativity…
