+ Most maps are decent.
+ 2 new bosses
+ 3 new weapons and the rest are all reskinned, with different sounds and models.
+ Belial has something funny to say at the beginning of each map, and on other rare occasions.
-+ Music is alright, I prefer the hard metal of the original painkiller
- Idle chatter by Belial is repetitive, he says his one liners to often and there are only about 10 or so (every time he kills or picks up a soul) use Powermad: Overdose mod and type ~ then type pmtrashtalk, to disable it.
- Quite short at 17 maps
- Has 5 bad maps
Chapter 1 level 5 (Dead Marsh) Act 1 boss fight, Act 3 level 2 (village of the damned), 3 (Studio), 4 (loony park) where the bad maps. Village was so incredibly easy, I wonder why it was even included in this state and the studio just felt like it threw every monster they could think of with not rhyme or reason. Loony park was copy pasted from Battle out of Hell (or for steam users black edition has the expansion) same secret areas, same layout mostly. Act 1 boss fight was **** easy and Dead Marsh was so repetitive with its enemies, as soon as you kill one vine, a mini-enemy pops out, everyone is firing poison, and you just go through a series of large areas.

Act 1 level 3 (Desert) had alot of potential for a mummy themed tomb exploration (and maybe do a throwback to serious sam) but alas no its just another corridoor after corridoor slaughterfest.
Act 3 Level 1 also had alot of potential but ended up rather average, just a series of rooms although the ending gets good as you climb the tower.

Not bad, considering anything other than the first Painkiller and Battle Out of Hell are mediocre at best; mostly I remember Belial's constant lines to be very annoying, and me wanting to shut him up with no way to do it.

There's a lot of new enemies but most of them work one of two ways - either just run up to you to smack you with their weapon, or throw something from the distance. And while the original Painkiller kept the enemy design fresh by adding some new detail like different movement or different ways in which certain enemies react to certain attacks, when it comes to Overdose enemies differences are only cosmetic. But the real problem with enemy design is that the enemies, despite using melee attacks, have absolute accuracy and reaction time, so no matter how fast you strafe and bunny hop past them, or even if they are turned in your direction, getting close to them always means taking damage. And the damage itself is increased greatly compared to the original Painkiller, where getting hit by normal enemy meant receiving between 1 and 5 damage points on Insomnia, while in Overdose it's usually 10, 15, and later on even 30 dp. It's all the worse because in many cases animations don't match attacks; sometimes it looks like the enemy won't hit you, but you still receive damage.
