Adds more ammo pickups to all singleplayer levels.
PK Overdose's ammo economy is atrocious. More often than not you find yourself scrounging for minimal scraps just for a chance to defend yourself. Several levels completely lack certain ammo types, severely restricting your options to deal with them. I got fed up with this and decided to do something about it.
I've gone through (almost) all the singleplayer levels in the editor, adding more ammo drops wherever I felt appropriate to give the player a proper fighting chance. The goal was to give an ammo balance similar to that of the original Painkiller, and hopefully I got it somewhat close without going overboard.
Some examples below:
Japanese Massacre - Just a bit more ammo wherever you might normally find some.
Dead Marsh - Show those mutants what for.
Village of the Damned - You now have a reason to come up here!
Nuclear Plant - Start the level off right.
Haunted Valley - A little treat for the detour.
Studios - The stages are now filled with goodies!
Loony Park - Load up for the ride.
I left both the boss levels, Black Tower and Samael's Lair, untouched because I felt they were fine without any changes (plus Samael is a total pushover anyway).
To install, drop the contents of the Zip into your Painkiller Overdose game directory (Painkiller Overdose/Data/Levels) and you're done. Enjoy!
I'm open to feedback! This was my first time using the Painkiller Editor and I'm no game designer, so please let me know if I overdid it, underdid it, or if I missed any spots! I'd love to hear what you think c:
Also check out my other mod! PK Overdose, but with better music
Big thanks to People Can Fly for the Painkiller Editor and for the included documentation on how to use it. Y'all are (were?) the best.
Painkiller: Overdose has 3 main problems:
1. Long loading times (which can easily be fixed).
2. Belial's annoying one-liners.
3. Lack of ammo.
The lack of ammo is obvious and yet, the only reviewer I heard criticizing it was GmanLives. This mod fixes that.
