Since the last update, we have added many new maps to the game to bring the total to 60, double what it was at the last update! Although we have added many new maps, they still need to be fleshed out with NPCs and Quests, but we have decided to concentrate on making all the maps for the first part of the game (see below) and then fleshing them all out at the same time. This will allow us to keep some kind of consistency over a large area of the game world.
The game engine has been modified somewhat, changing the leveling and stats system to make them more customizable. Originally there was very little you could do to affect your stats when you level up, but that has now been changed to put the player firmly in control of their character's stats and abilities.
There is also a new dialogue when you start a new game asking you to distribute your stats in any way you see fit.
The lighting system has been modified to change the light when the player enters a building, particularly a house or Inn. House and Inn interiors are now darker and ones with fireplaces have a slight red/orange tint to them.
Some minor graphics changes have taken place, including correcting a minor bug with one of the tilesets and altering the 'window skin' to make selected options in dialogues clearer.
We are toying with the idea of releasing the game in four stages in order to break the workload into smaller chunks and also so we can get feedback from players and generate more interest in the game.
Well, that's it until next month. Stay tuned for more updates soon!
