1. About
Thank you for downloading this Alpha version of Novostrana.
This is a demo consisting of over 60 maps and 4 quests as a
taster of what the full version will contain.
This should work on all Windows PCs and Laptop, but good
performance is not guaranteed as it has only been tested on
a High-End machine.
This demo is only available at ModDB.com and should not be
redistributed to any other site without the author's express
permission.
The music and sound contained in this package may not be used
except for personal use.
2. Controls
This game is entirely keyboard controlled.
Arrow Keys - Move and Navigate Menus
Enter or Space - Perform an action, make a selection
Shift - Sprint

3. Playing the Game
This part of the ReadMe will help you to understand how to
play the game.
When you first start up the game, press enter when you see
the message about it being an Alpha Version.
You will then be taken to the menu screen.
Select "Begin Adventure".
Next, just follow the steps to set up your character. This
should be fairly straight-forward.
Once you have finished character setup you will be taken to
the village of Willenke. You will need to equip the sword
that you have been given. Open the menu by pressing Esc.
Go down to the equipment button and press enter.
Now just press enter twice. This will equip the sword.
Press Esc to go back to the Pause menu and press it again to
continue the game.
Now lets take a quest. Talk to the girl by the well and ask
her about what she's doing. Accept her request. She will now
give you a note and a map. Lets have a look at the map.
Open you inventory by pressing Escape and pressing Enter on
the Inventory button. Now select the map to the Doctor's
house and press enter. You will see a semi-transparent map
displayed over the top of the game. This will be useful
later in finding the right house in the residential district.
Now close the map by pressing Escape and go back to the
inventory. Here you will also find a Journal that displays
all your accepted quests. Select an icon to find out the
basic details of that quest and press enter for more
details.
Now lets continue the game. Press Escape and take the path to
the West. On this next map you will see a number of plants
that can be picked. Try it by going over to one and
pressing Enter. That plant will now appear in your inventory.
There are no enemies around in this version, so I will leave
you to explore in peace for a bit until you find the
Market District in the city of Wellenstadt.
Getting there is a little tedious at this point because there
are no enemies or other NPCs, but exploring will be
a lot more fun in the full version.
Once you have got to the Market District, go South. You are
now in the Residential District where you can use your map
to work out where the Doctor's house is.
This concludes the Tutorial. It's up to you to find the
other three quests.

Apart from the music, this game is not moddable just yet.
I have encrypted the game data because I don't want
people to take loads of stuff from the game before it's
even been released. I hope you understand this
precaution. When the full game is released, all files
will be moddable and I might even include a modding
guide! :)

lol, this is awesome! Great work guys.
Thank you! :D
- The story told at the beginning of the game felt like it could be rewritten. It didn't grab me or make me care about assuming the role of the hero and finding my brother.
- I did like the use of the 'border guard' to facilitate choosing my name, gender, and look.
- When moving, the game doesn't scroll smoothly. Not sure how to put a fine point on it, but it made me want to stop playing immediately.
I applaud the effort though, a well-written, old school SNES-style RPG is something I would be interested in playing. I'll be keeping tabs on your development.
Whoops! sorry for the double post here and on the main comments.
Where do I submit glitches? I found a game breaking one... but I guess it doesn't really matter because it's a demo! But I'm just making sure.
