Make this a poll or something?

I vote for 2, simple and clean.

I vote 2, then second vote goes to 5... :D
2 because it looks classy ;D
5 because it sticks with the alien-y design of the aliens :3
edit: ooh, 4 because of previous reason :p

edit2: You could have them spawn differently depending on the materials they're on... like, if they're in a forest/on grass, it would spawn 4 or 5, if on rock, 2, of half on rock, half on grass, 3, and IDK how 1 would spawn :p

I vote for 1 or 2, but the idea of them looking different depending on what surface they are on is an excellent idea I think.

Hell yes, I noticed the rocky formation on 2-3. Although, perhaps over time the nodes could evolve into the one after it? Purely aesthetically or something.

Clockworks May 9 2011, 9:15am replied:

i must say, 5 looks the most reasonable. i also agree about how you stated that each could spawn differently depending on the terrain. let me help you with 1.. maybe 1 can be on the more "metal-ly" surfaces in the game :)
nice concepts btw.
p.s. 5s the best :D

2 and 5; 2 looks like a pustule that has been there for a while, and 5 just looks badass.

I choose number 5. It looks like a connector site, with all those tentacles. Which by description I believe you are looking for something that can attach to other things of the same type.

I think I like 5 or 4 the most, but to be honest 1 and 2 are nice as well. 3 would definitely not be my choice.

Hell_Diguner May 7 2011, 4:40pm replied:

I also prefer 4

I don't like 1 because it's too clean, too perfect.

I don't like 2 and 3 because the hard, armor-like parts don't fit with the characteristics of the rest of the Infestation. I especially don't like the small tentacles of 3

5 is all right, but I still prefer 4 over 5.

Kasplatt May 8 2011, 7:51pm says:

4 and 5 are the most "realistic" ones in my opinion, the most likely ones to exist.
However I do like number 3 as it has those tentacles(:D) coming out of it, as if it were to grow and spread, it's just that with such details as that people tend to recognize it if it's being reused in several places, if the tentacles were to fall off after it has spread some infestation, however, then it would definitely be a considerable choice.

NS2 will feature 3D dynamic infestation, The current 2D test mockup has revealed a problem with providing marines with an early combat solution to DI prior to Flamethrowers so the solution is to give the marines some key heartline points that they can shoot at, just shooting at the floor does not have any feel to it, Flamethrowers will still play a role in breaking connections between Pustules and burning off the creep.

Cory has drawn up 5 choices for use, we want you to choose your favourite Pustule design or a combination of a couple you think might work best.

Thank you all for the Phasgate feedback, a concept was drawn based on a popular choice of the combination of 2 of the designs that many requested to see.
