Mercs: Shadows of War is an open and realistic medieval world, sets in Europe in 1225, massively multiplayer online. Most importantly, it will be a free game.

Six different game modes for users eager to action, can fight tirelessly on each server:

On the one hand, we got the three classical game modes most people know, where you could get used to the battle mechanics and gain some experience.

Team DeathMatch, DeathMatch and Duel mode.

On the other hand, we have three other very interesting modes, which are:

Skirmish mode - relentless struggle - Explorers of the armies fighting in exchange for a reward. This reward is based on equipment used by the other team.

Siege mode: Destructible environment, a fortress to conquer and many reinforcements for each team, where you will be able to use artillery and siege equipment, attacking and defending.

Raid mode: Destructible environment. Fight against villagers, loot their bodies and houses. Only one life to get the reward, SO BETTER NOT TO DIE!!!

Starting in the year 1225, during feudal Europe, the armies of the nobles rise up against his neighbors in constant infighting. Only one thing unites them, fight the infidels. Likewise, the Muslim nobility also rises in defence of their territories. Who will you join with?

Mercenary or not, you choose your destiny. From working your land to lead armies or just getting sit on the throne of a kingdom. It's up to you.

Let's begin ....

Valley HD

One week and we bring you a new report. These images are a small sample of the map of the first paid version to support the project, we hope to upload soon Desura for anyone who wants to contribute. We will announcewhen we have it ready.

This version will be a step forward in the development, so you can contribute. Be leaving us a tip or money for coffee / beer (say it helps us to be more creative). In this version already incorporate an account record and an updater that we thought it started every two weeks downloading new content.

Water. It's early to think about the physical objects of this virtual world we planned to do. For now think of a particle system simulates water drops of any object, the plane representing the water reduces its height or disappears altogether.

We take care of all the details, so we'll try to make it as realistic as possible.

This image shows vases, for some tools, for other decoration. We can put them into our home decorating furniture or give effective use, safeguard the wine.

Finally, the commentary of Japanese equipment... Unfortunately, japan was not visited by Europeans until the 16th century Our idea is to represent the game in Europe and the Middle East.

If we collected a lot of money in campaign financing we can represent further eastward, including the Silk Road to China. But talk about the future, we will focus on the development of the two modes of play, mmo and game modes in dedicated servers.

No more, I say goodbye, but not before you give him "Follow" and "Favorites" in the concept of Steam.

Kind regards!

Great project! Hope you finish it as planned.
About that dedicated server. Will player be able to host just combat modes or MMO server also?

Right now we have planned to do only game modes for dedicated servers, maybe in the future we do a light version of mmo for dedicated servers. Where you can choose a kingdom, duchy or county as map to play on the dedicated server, with the only limitation on the size of the territory.

In indiedb you will have the full version of the combat system. In Desura we will sell early access to the full version of the game. MMO and game modes (combat system). The game is free to play, so it is a form of financing.

When we have the playable mmo, we'll get into Greenlight. We do not work with dates. Within a few days we will launch a version at Desura, which will be updated every two weeks until we finish the objectives.

I do not know, we can release a mmo version in the first quarter of next year where players can wander around the area of the city of Pamplona. Expanding the territory and adding new features at short intervals.

Well , best of luck bro.
but take my sincere and brotherly advice and MAKE SURE , even if you release this on PAID Early Access on Steam (i have no knowledge of Desura , so i cant advice u on that) ,the game must have AMPLE amounts of good mmo features unlocked and ready since... the community is VERY unforgiving there and if u want this game to bloom , avoid the early downvotes and -ve reviews.
One more concern is , that is the unity engine impressive enough? The UE4 engine that has recently come out at reasonable rates , might be a better option to go for.
This game here :
is being developed by a small sutdio like yours , BUT it was on verge of being released in unity engine , but UE4 became available and they DELAYED their release by several months to integrate better Graphics Engine into their game... You might wanna check out their IndieDB page , their homepage AND FB page to get a better idea.
Im not against using the unity engine , but will the wider audience be so much forgiving.
I suggest you discuss this with your team in GREAT detail and reach the best decision you can
I know ur a small company and i really appreciate your constant communication with me , so i really must say that im impressed by the visuals and i want you guys to work overtime if needed to make this game a big hit!
Just make sure you make the best decision with regards to whats best for this game in the long run!
(Good Luck and ALL the best.)

We stayed with Unity3d, to us seems best to make a project of this size. We know it works and it facilitates the incorporation of new members because of the ease of learning. The new version of Unity is similar in terms of graphics to EU4.

We are currently delaying the arrival of the first alpha because the team member is working offline and we can not contact him except on occasion. Hopefully soon appear with the finished work.

For now we are working on the gameplay waiting to receive the 3D models of the first neighborhood, San Nicolas.

kind regards!
