I am considering adding Nebulae in version 1.05 - Current thoughts are that nebulae will be created randomly over an area in the galaxy map. All planets located in a nebulae experience the following effects.

1 - Receive a research bonus
2 - All battles will have shields and cloaking disabled.
3 - All battles will wake a ‘Nebulae Caan' (big dragon like creature) what will attack the solar system from which the attacking fleet came.

Comments?

sounds interesting don't know if i like the no shields at all though maybe allow the ships to keep the shields 20 or other very low tech level shields.

i would like to see more then basically 2 hostile type ships though, maybe also a hostile npc that planet jumps randomly every turn, and attacks any npc or player ships on it but ignores the planet, much like a pirate would do to loot the cargo of the ship but tend to stay away from land to avoid major conflicts.

if added this would add more strategy like players avoiding using defenseless scouts or colonizers by them selfs.

The 'Nebulae Caan' marauding around the galaxy not attacking planets but chasing down craft is a great idea

would definitely put a interesting twist and require more strategy
