I finally finished the rework of the Action bar and Inventory system, oh there was bugs!!!
Sooner or later I will buy fraps so I can get some decent gameplay video's put up, also once I get some more interesting stuff to fight.
The game is finally starting to feel "gamey" so I am uploading a few videos of what you can do so far here is some stuff you can do:

- You can harvest materials

  • Wood
  • Stone
  • Copper
  • Coal
  • Iron
  • Gold
  • Red Ore
  • Rare Plants (Currently unnamed)
  • Fish

- You can take those harvested Materials and craft new equipment, potions, camp fires, anvil, forge (Which are needed to craft certain items)
- You can go around killing slimes to collect slime balls and gold (Currently they only do 1 damage when they touch you)
- You need to eat or you will die, currently there is nothing in the game that drops meat, I need to implement some animals (I was thinking a deer or something)

My plans for the slime are as follows:
I want the slimeballs to be edible but will apply a stacking debuff for every one you eat that will prevent health and mana regeneration and at high levels of the stack it will cause debilitating effects.
I would like to add some different variety of slimes, maybe some that shoot globs of slime at you, or much stronger slimes that spawn lesser slimes.

Here are some things I added this update:

- Implemented NPC Damage to player
- Implemented Player Damage to NPC
- Implemented NPC Knockback
- Added Chest Consolidation, if a monster dies on top of a chest it will just place its loot in that chest (if its not full already)
- Added Item Slime Ball
- Added Item Amethyst
- Added Item Gold Chunk
- Slimes now drop Slime Ball and have a 10% chance of dropping some gold
- Slimes currently only do 1 damage I am going to change it so its based on the mobs strength, but the 1 damage works nicely because it makes slimes not very dangerous unless there is a ton of them (they build up very quickly)
- Changed slime spawner to spawn 1000 nodes this makes the game starting out semi difficult!
- Special item system for keeping track of durability and adding weapon modifier (Think Diablo style randomized magic items)

Action Bar Update:
I decided on a different mechanic for the action bar, in most games it’s just a reference to the items used in your inventory, I made it so the actionbar is literally more item slots that are usable.

That combined with not being able to move while in your backpack means you really need to prepare your actionbar before you get into combat unless you are really quick to open and move something to your actionbar.

This representation would fit nice for a turn-based tactical RPG. :)

My previous project that I left in the dust was actually a multiplayer fantasy turned based RPG.

I ended up abandoning the project because my goals were a little too lofty.
