A sports management game in the vein of Football Manager, or Out Of The Park Baseball. Recruit, train and manage a stable of fighters as you try to prepare them for matches. For those who aren't familiar with kickboxing, try searching online for K-1 to get a feel for the sport this game is about. Or you can try searching up fighters such as Masato, Buakaw Por Pramuk, Peter Aerts and Remy Bonjasky.

The full game is free and can be downloaded from kickboxingmanager.tumblr.com

People seem to be having problems with figuring out how to get students to train at your gym. It happens automatically - when you click the Next Day button, there is a chance a new student will train at your gym. From the Management screen you can then select one to train professionally. I've update the blog with this info, and more help in this area will appear in the next update.

0 comments by Aggroblakh on Mar 21st, 2012

Hi all,

Version 1.4 has been released with a few bugfixes, one of which was a major one (hence the new release).

Major bugfix:

-Fixed a bug in which the organization’s title would not be vacated if the user’s contract ran out after a successful title defense. Since the game looks for the champion when booking Championship Matches, this would cause problems if the user chose to sign with another organization.

Minor bugfix:

-Fixed a bug in which a user fighter’s next match would not be shown on the Management screen if the last match happened to be a Tournament Qualifier. Now it automatically updates it correctly to reflect the fact that the user fighter is automatically booked for the next event if he wins a Tournament Qualifier match.

Tweaks:

-Added hover-over tooltips for the Training Plan buttons.

-Set the default text to black, in case custom Windows themes made it difficult to read the text.

Hopefully I won’t have to make any more major bugfixes. Thanks to all that played the game and provided valuable feedback. Cheers!

Man, I'm having trouble. Every time I start a new game, I get my starting fighters and I choose the best which normally has an average of 16-17 stats rating. But I realized that all the fighters I go against are 10-20 stats higher than me and I can never achieve wins. Plus, if I focus on improving one area in training, after 2 weeks of training in the same thing, the stats decrease by one. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Furthermore, is there anyway to create your own fighter?

Besides from all of that, the game is simply awesome.
But, how's the game progress?

Hi!

Sorry for the VERY late reply. I just haven't been able to focus on it due to doing a work internship for the past 8 months. I'm hoping now that I'm back in school I'll be able to do a bit more work on it, but it depends on my workload. I'm thinking of doing some slight combat engine updates first to regain my bearings with the game, but we'll see ;) Thanks so much for the support.

As for your question, the whole point of the game is to improve your standing as a manager. Your fighters will be terrible at first, but as you win matches and upgrade your equipment, then your training will be more effective. Try starting off in the lower leagues. You'll lose most of your matches, but the money you get from losing can be saved up and used to upgrade your equipment.

Good call. If there are enough changes needed to warrant a Version 1.4 I'll add tooltips to the training buttons, like the ones that appear when you hover over the buttons at the top. Thanks for the input!

Hey Aggro! I haven't disappeared just yet! :)

This is going off of Terak's point a bit, but I think with the post-day/pre-day interface should be a bit more revised. Trying to read though everything is a bit of a headache, especially having to scroll through events you might not be interested in.

What I thought would be nice (if possible that is) is if you divided the screen in half, with the left screen giving bars for each skill of a fighter and a smaller subbar under each skill bar that gives a visual description of what went up and what went down. You can make it so that you can choose your different fighters to see what happened to each fighter with less scrolling.

On the right side of the screen you can have all the events, which you can even divide up into Gym events, tournament events, etc.

It's mainly just my opinion on what would make what's probably a small part of the game a bit more user friendly, but I always found it frustrating having the scroll up and down every time I went to the next day.

Keep up the awesome work! I can't wait to be able to play the finished product :)
