Just a little copy/paste from last weeks SITREP in case you missed it: SITREP is basically an ongoing progress report where we publicly display our current tasks, progress and focus areas. Primarily targeted at those of you who find game development and our Open Door Development methodology intriguing.
Team debriefing
Kim (ZPSHicks): "Back from easter vacation, Monday already gone and a long production meeting to align all our crazy innovative ideas. Spent a bit of time exporting (don't ask) Jess's test / prototype maps from Running Man and into our Deadlock project (Jess is our sideline Level Designer and a god among men) otherwise most of my time has been spent between getting up-to-date with stuff, writing - attending interviews as well as prepping Iteration 2 of Operations".
Kenneth: "Allright, this week I've started looking at the realtime audio effects Unity presents in their current release, and try to figure out how to use them creatively in order to make more realistic audio. There are quite a few "flaws" in the current audio engine in Unity and it's quite immature, but I'm in close dialog with the audio programmer, Søren Christiansen, from Unity, and the roadmap for the future Unity audio engine sure looks bright.
Besides audio FX, I've been giving an email-interview to gameogre.com in collaboration with Kim and you'll hopefully soon be able to read it. I've also worked a bit on our PR strategy for Deadlock and have made a few new friends in the press (Hi Evan and Sorin :-).
Oh, and the voting-period for the Avatar Competition has begun! "
A single hard working Jarhead in the line of duty
Mikael (heks): "Since the last SITREP I've finished a networking prototype on Unity's built-in networking, which (as anticipated) highlighted the need for a robust middleware that will match our game and requirements for further development. This week I've spent some time setting up an additional PC on my desktop (to aid in debugging network sessions) followed by researching various middleware's".
Nicolai (Reese): "For the love of admin and finances. I've spend the entire week with admin tasks such as an upcoming AGM, Board Meeting and Annual Accounts. No creative news really, but I look forward to start blogging and composing in the near future. Oh yeah, we are a step closer to an upgraded shop payment system. I'll make sure to keep you all updated on the progress".
