Not in the way shown in this pic. This is an artistic rendition, even if it uses an in-game engine shot for the render scene.

But we'll be able to land anywhere and probably unload cargo and the likes. Some models of hovercrafts have been thrown around the contributions forum though, so planet roaming might be a possibility (a lot of people request it anyway).

I believe if you can run crysis you can run this, it is mentioned somewhere on their site I think.

Between this and the X series, it seems like free roaming space sims are doing pretty well.

they did most times. People often like the freedom you get in space games.

That depends on how advanced you make it
Personally I'm fine with roaming around a planet with midrange'esque graphics (Think halo, morrowind, etc). A midrange comp can handle nearly infinite proportions of those kind of graphics.
As long as I get to fly the ships too =D
But yeah.
Procedural ftw

if you guys implement planet roaming and building of cities/mines/factories, i can easily plug myself onto the game and say goodbye to real life. xD

I must agree with you also! I'd definantly travel far away and try to set up my own solar system full of cities and space stations. Then if its possible to by ships and have them be AI controlled just orbit planets and have patrols all over the solar system in which I would colonize.

I also wonder if you can land troops to conquer cities? If that was implemented, then I dont know the mass hours I could spend playing this game. ;)
