Hedon mixes high octane action with exploration and puzzle solving, creating a challenge that encourages creativity and wit.

➣ An exotic world of lore and secrets

Embark on an adventure across an underground world where ancient and medieval civilizations meet with uncanny crystal-powered technologies.

➣ A dark, eerily comfy atmosphere

Immerse yourself in the whistling of cave drafts and the humming of the mossy crystals as you ponder your next move.

➣ Brutal, gory, fast-paced combat

Shatter your foes with a lined-up axe throw, lob acid at them from your potion launcher or ignite them with the flamethrower included into your goblin-crafted shotgun.

➣ Complex, non-linear, handmade levels

Sharpen your wits and your sense of exploration - there won't be many arrows to point you through the mysteries of the Underworld.

➣ A touch of RPG (Bloodrite-only)

Travel between Hexen-style level clusters, interact with a variety of characters, complete secondary and hidden quests, and watch some of your deeds and approaches have an impact on the world.

➣ Good company (Bloodrite-mostly)

Lead the orc daughters of the Iron Division to victory. They will prove their worth when fighting alongside you against the armies of chaos.

➣ A multi-genre soundtrack

Going from tense to serene ambient, with occasional kicks of heavy metal. All spiced up with a few Alexander Brandon tracks that never made it in Unreal and Deus Ex!

➣ Six difficulty levels

Changing not only the damage taken or how many progression clues you get but also the individual monster and item placement of each map.
And don't forget the Bearzerk difficulty that completely changes the gameplay by swapping your regular arsenal with special melee weapons.

➣ Fully moddable

You can mod and make maps for Hedon just as easily as you can for Doom.

➣ DRM free

You buy it, you own it.

BloodriteReleaseSpotlight

It's finally here...

After 2 years of intensive day and night development, I'm happy to announce that Hedon Bloodrite is out and ready to play! It's been a crazy journey, and Hedon has blown up far since it's humble beginnings as a Doom 1/2 total conversion mod.

Bloodrite comes as a free update for everyone who owns Hedon. It features a new 12+ hour campaign that can be selected from the main menu just like a Doom episode. The campaign also introduces new RPG-style elements and clusters of Hexen-style interconnected levels with multiple ways of progression and lots of secrets for the hardcore explorers!

On top of that, Bloodrite also updates the first Hedon game with improved animations, gore, sounds and quality of life features!

Good news for modders!

The free demo has been updated with all of Hedon's assets, graphics, sounds, code, everything that you can access and mod as you please. Hedon is fully compatible with GZDoom, which allows you to mod it just as easily as you would with Doom.
All you have to do is download the demo from any platform and use the Hedon.ipk3 file inside as a resource in Slade or Ultimate/GZDoom Builder.

Hello Zan hope you are well. I'd like to report a bug I immediately encountered in the steam release of Hedon (sort of, I suspect it's more of an oversight). Your fork of GZDoom (HGZDoom) has some problems with gamepad input that I've never encountered in native GZDoom or any other standalone project made in the engine like Total Chaos or Vomitoreum. Specifically, the game doesn't receive emulated KB+M input from a gamepad. I'm using DS4Windows to bind, for example, the alpha number keys to DPAD and the touchpad for weapon switching and mouselook to the right stick, none of which the game recognizes if launched through the provided launcher. I can use both gamepad and KB+M simultaneously with no issues, however if I were to bind say the H key to my gamepad it just won't read the input like everything else I've played in GZDoom. Launching the game via my normal installation of GZDoom restored normal functionality so it's not a pressing issue or anything, it certainly hasn't affected my enjoyment of this great game, I just figured you might like to know :)

Hello Zan!
I'm a French speaking Belgian player/streamer.
I love your game that I discovered in stream. There are a lot of texts in English. I started translating, accompanied by a person who speaks English. I never designed a mod or a translation patch. I modify directly the wad. Would you be interested in a complete and corrected French version of Hedon Bloodrite?

Fantastic attention to detail, loved it. Btw, did you apply much code and scripts to make this work? I assume you did but I'm curious. Great work. :)

I'm now just hearing that this game is also on steam. Congrats, however I have to ask, are there any differences between the freeware version and the steam version?
