Superb little model, but equally as common for British and commonwealth personnel as the No77 - which last saw service with the Canadian army in the 50's.

The No.79 Smoke Grenade was a Commonwealth hand thrown grenade that would create a cloud of white smoke. Unlike the Canadian version, the No.77 Smoke Grenade, it did not contain white phosphorus and was therefore suited to be used close to friendly troops. Like the No.69 Grenade, the No.79 Smoke Grenade was an always armed fuse, impact-only grenade, meaning it would detonate as soon as it hit solid surface.
