EVE:WORLD is a free project that takes advantage of the Outerra engine's 1:1 scale rendition of Earth to bring you a planetary invasion simulator set in the EVE universe. Battle through enemy lines in everything from 10m drones to 18km Titans. Make a controlled descent through Earth's atmosphere to strike at targets around the globe.

Report RSS Scale - Welcome to the world of EVE

We show some new images of ships, large and small next to a to-scale human character. We also cover some of the weaponry in the game.

Welcome to our first news update. We have added several new screens to the gallery. Below you can see a picture of the rockets and missiles of EVE.

Scale - 05/04/14

EVE Online has multiple weapons, with each race having a preferred type. The Minmatar use old-fashioned bullets and shells. The Gallente use a hybrid of solid projectiles accelerated using high-concept energy propellants such as railguns. All races use "Launchers", a generic term for any turret or emplacement that fires missiles, with the Caldari favouring them the most. Every weapon group, including launchers, is divided into several categories of size with the smallest size mounted on the smallest ships and vice versa.

Closest to the character you can see a rocket - an unguided, rapid-firing, low-damage projectile commonly mounted on frigates. Just behind that is the guided light missile. Beyond them you can see larger variants, each trading either accuracy or rate-of-fire for the other.

Scale - 05/04/14

At the far end you can see the massive Citadel-class ordnance. Only dreadnoughts and titans can carry these and it is these missiles that you will need to attack Earth from orbit.

What is your connection to CCP? I hope you have permission from them, otherwise they will shut you down as soon as the project gets more fans.

C'mon, at least check the summary or FAQ before jumping to conclusions. Of course we have permission.

Yes I did. I was referring to using the franchise name.
Anyway I doubt it that you have any permission, but that will be CCPs business.

Also you should change a bit the description. A titan is larger than 8 km. The smallest is 13 Km and the largest is 18Km. You should do some research before you copy the EVE universe.

I wont even bother trying to explain how a 13 Km long ship can stay within the gravitation well of a planet.

I don't think that CCP will intervene with a non-profit fan based project.
In the end it might bring attention to the EvE universe.

Please do explain about a 13km ship landing on a planet.
And while your at it, you can explain why we have sound in space battles as well.
As we all know, in space noone can hear you scream...or shoot... or explode.

If they intervene or not, it's their choice. Most companies take down even non-profit projects. I'm curious to see if this is not just another 'make a quick buck' scheme.

I disliked the fact that they lie saying that CCP let them use assets and use the games name. No company that spent years and millions of dollars on their flagship project, would allow unknown and fan-devs to play around with their assets.

If I am wrong, that would be good news for the devs as they will have a successful project milking over an established lp.

As for the ships in planet atmosphere part... Can you please tell me, why we don't replace the ships with flying pigs? I mean, at what point it becomes ridiculous?

It's not even consistent with EVE online (which is pretty scientific based) since in EVE you have ORBITAL (as in, outside the planets atmosphere and gravitation well) strikes.

Anyway, I lost enough time with this. Time will tell who is right.

My that's a lot of anger. Thank you for pointing out the typo with the missing 1 in the summary. And no, not a "lie", if you also knew EVE you would know that it was CCP themselves that helped export the models.

I invite you to direct your ire at the already existing EVE mods:

My apologies. My short burst of anger was more directed towards the sudden Guest that appeared.

There are a couple of points you guys did not specify, for example the game being completly free. Which is a big difference.

I know about Eve giving away their assets for free projects since the CryEngine 2 projects using these assets.

As long as you are respecting other peoples work I don't see why this wouldn't turn out as an interesting project.

Good luck.

Oh I see. I tend to view this page through moddb. If viewing through IndieDB I see how it could give the impression it was a retail product.
