WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF CHANGING OUR NAME DUE TO LEGAL REASONS. THE NEW NAME WILL BE "DWELL". PLEASE KEEP UPDATED. WE ARE NOT STOPPING DEVELOPMENT.

What is Dwell?
A cross between creativity, horror, and adventure, Dwell aims to be an ORPG like no other. Settle, create a village, and defend your friends from the horrible creatures who lurk in the forests. You can change the landscape, farm, or hunt in order to survive the conditions-- it's all up to you.

How can I play?
Dwell is currently in its closed Alpha 2.0 stage. This means that the game is unavailable to the public besides a few occasional testers. We'll allow applications soon.

What features are planned?
-An ever-changing world shaped purely by the players
-Villages created and governed by the players themselves
-Basic jobs, like farming, mining, fishing, woodworking, cloth working, and cooking
-Advanced building, allowing you to make a personalized home for your needs and profession
-A simplified stats system, reducing grind and improving players' experiences
-Skill-based combat (no more button bashing or complex combat systems!)
-Diplomacy amongst villages and villagers
-Children and Family NPCs (spawned based on your stats and living conditions)
-Pets and farm animals

What platforms will Dwell be available on?
At the moment, Dwell is only available on Windows (XP, Vista, Win7, and Win8 successfully tested). After our early testing phases, we aim to have a solid build out for everyone to enjoy, including those on MacOS and Linux. Please be patient-- we want everyone to play ASAP!

Who are the developers?
Jungletoe (Programming), ICT (Pixel Art), Jackard (Pixel Art & Design), LegendWeaver (GUI Art), and Allen Calmes (Music). We're informally part of the development group Sixmeat. Dwell is currently our main project.

We just did some quick things to make the interface more simple and more intuitive.

  1. Right click to select/interact with items/objects/animals/etc
  2. Left click to attack (you'll soon be able to attack directionally)
  3. Removed click-to-move

All of these updates are being put in place to fix some potential problems with the new combat system. Here is our proposed plan:

  • Mana gain (faster regen speeds according to your heart level, max 100)
  • Sprint with shift (takes 1 mana per tile)
  • Punch/launch directionally with left click (hold to charge, takes 5 mana)
  • Block (acts like a forcefield) with spacebar(?), is broken when hit with an attack

We're also working on a new logo. Here's a preview:

We also redid the GUI to be more minimal:

No idea what the release date will be yet. Dwell is our only project, so there is no "next work" :)

Curious I think I remember you saying you were aiming for a smaller amount of people on the severs compared to salem/h&h. Will you allow players to host their own servers/worlds?

Our first priority is to get a fun game for everyone to enjoy. This means that we'll need to spend a fairly long time in development, unfortunately. We don't have any expected "release" dates, but we're trying to be as transparent as possible in the development of our game :)

You have permissions for this game because you "Own" it, which means you can delete comments on this page.

I mainly use that kind of power to fix **** ups like this. =p
