Ray Cast Attacks and Line of Sight

Ray casts are a kind of programming technique where an invisible line is emitted to detect something, kind of like a laser pointer. This is the basis of how a lot of our attacks will work. Anything that shoots a bullet (like a rifle infantry) or a shell (like a tank) for example, will be using a ray cast. Second, is a line of sight. Most units which fire their ballistics in a straight line must have a line of sight to fire. Structures and environmental objects can block line of sight and prevent fire. However, vehicles and infantry cannot block line of sight.

These two systems together have two implications for gameplay that should be considered. The first is that some attacks will have no travel time due to the nature of a ray cast. This does not apply to rockets, dropped bombs, missiles, or other attacks with a travel time. Next, certain objects (namely, vehicles from an opponent) can block your attacks. This is not the same thing as lacking line of sight as a unit attempting to engage a target behind an enemy vehicle will ‘see’ it but its attacks will likely strike the closer target instead of the desired target. In short, formations matter, positions matter, and you should deploy your units accordingly.

Is this going to be mod compatible?
Will there be non-desert maps?
Pathfinding was a major issue in generals. Is this still the case here?
Will air units(fixed wing aircraft in particular) be controllable?
Base building seems rather limited. Is this intended?
How about say.... unit customization?
How realistic is physics in game?

Hello there, I did try today the game and hell its damn good.

1 Can you guys add walls and gates here? It just by such kind of a game, people just spam Tanks and move them right inside your base.

2 Its neat idea of 2 different resources, keep it.

3 Will there be Option to set different starting money for skirmish and PVP ?
Like 10000 Oil/Credits or 20000 Oil/Credits or 50000 Oil/Credits.

4 The income rate feels somehow slow placed for me.
After all there are people with low skill, its good for them to have a game where they can keep up, but there are people who are really good at RTS games and do play Starcraft.

So in my opinion to please both groups it would be neat to have maybe some "big money maps like legendary bay of Pigs in RA2" , so you have like 2 times money and 2 times oil resource node at your start location.

So people can choose if they want a small army match or a big warfare.


5 can you perhaps do some flat maps ? Its not like the idea of shaped maps is bad, it just feels difficult for me to place the buildings properly. So some flat maps without obstacles will be pretty good.

I already pretty hated in generals that it was not so easy to find a spot to place a building.

6 OK sounds maybe first weird , but could you do for early access a better demo ?

I mean its great to play this 3 story missions, but a skirmish map where you can try to play 1 faction vs other faction would be better in my opinion, like the demo from Tiberium Wars.

It just there have been a lot of bad early access games, so a good demo should convince people more easy to get attached to this product.

smart selecet ? If I do select units its all, tanks and harvesters, i would like only tanks.

and why are you guys not on steam early access?

Yes you can press double click on tank and only tanks selecte
