A re-packaging of the Penthouse Magazine exclusive level released as a promotion and marketing effort, set up for easy use with Eduke32.
Warning: NSFW
All I've really done here is package up the map and files into a .grp (data package for Duke), and write a small .con script to make it into an "episode".
You need the latest Eduke32 from: Dukeworld.duke4.net
Tested with EDUKE32 build r9159
You'll also need a licensed copy of the 1.4 duke3d.grp. You can buy the game here:
Credits go to:
- GT InteractiveSoftware Corp.
- Penthouse Magazine
- Intersphere Communications, Ltd
- Tyler Matthews - Mapping
- Paul Jury - Art
Installation:
- Create a new folder and extract the contents of Eduke32 into it.
- Put Duke3D.grp in the same dir as eduke32
- Put penthous.grp and penthous.grpinfo in the same dir as eduke32 and duke3d.grp
- Run Eduke32
Notes:
- The version of the GRP included with World Tour won't work for this add on
- If using BuildGDX, you'll get a .con error (with phplay.con). If so, just launch the grp using the ppakgame.con.
Hey man thanks for your time compiling this! Quick question, with buildGDX I try to run the .GRP under user files and it says "Error in phplay.con file." However, I can also run the same .grp with PPAKGAME.con and it loads fine. Will this mess anything up in the level?
Ah yeah that's just a script I wrote so the expansion appears in the eDuke32 episode menu. Should be fine in BuildGDX if you just use ppakgame.con instead (as that skips the script).
Sorry for mega late reply
Followed the instructions, but can't get it to work.
I got the duke3d.grp file from my 20th Anniversary installation. Don't know how to check if it's version 1.4.
I put the duke3d.grp file into the directory. Also added both penthous.grp and penthous.grpinfo.
I run eduke32 and don't see the penthouse level added when going for a new game.
I even downloaded the exact eduke32 version that this repackage was tested with: 9159.
No luck.
How to get it working?
I've just been made aware that the .GRP file included in World Tour has been modified from the original retail releases of DN. I recommend buying a copy of Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition from here: Zoom-platform.com
The duke3d.grp file from world tour doesn't work. You have to use the DUKE3D.grp file from megaton edition.
I honestly never thought to check the WT .grp but you're right, it's been modified... I'll add it to my notes and add a link to the Zoom site for purchasing DN3D
