It's been a long road but the 5th Update is ready to go today.

Posted by on

Today Free Update 5 is coming, delivering even more of your top-requested features for DOOM. (The patch will be available at 12pm ET -- maintenance will occur until 4pm ET, at which point the servers will reopen.)

First, Bots are being added to DOOM multiplayer. Players have requested this since the multiplayer beta pre-launch, and now Bots are coming to both Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch modes.

Next up: level cap. Multiplayer rank will now extend to Echelon 11! As an added bonus, once you reach the new highest ranking, you’ll unlock the DOOM Marine Armor. Be the envy of your peers by equipping the signature Praetor Suit, a reflection of the blood, sweat and… even more blood that you’ve shed in battle. The DOOM Marine Armor will be coming to SnapMap today, along with more elements from the campaign, allowing you to play and create even more campaign-like experiences in DOOM. And also added Lazarus Lab–themed modules, new props and other features.

Free Update 5 also includes a new competitive multiplayer mode, Infernal Run. Teams fight for control of the (eye) ball, which must be carried or thrown into the opponent’s goal to score. To celebrate all the new multiplayer additions, a double XP Event will start from today (at 5pm ET) until December 12 at 12pm ET. So jump on in, play Infernal Run, and work your way toward Echelon 11.

The latest game update is on it's way, create even more epic DOOM moments. Oh, and one more thing… Bloodfall, the final DLC for DOOM, arrives on December 15! Turn invisible as the Spectre Pinky demon across three new maps in our third DLC. Look for more details coming next week.

Read on for the full list of fixes, improvements and features for Free Update 5.

Final... so no single player DLC? Its what people want!! no one ever asked for multiplayer dlcs, those were already planned before launch with the push of season pass & if you listen to what all the fans, forums, videos are saying! And how do you go 5 updates without fixing the chat or adding anti-cheat?

All that is needed besides those 2 aforementioned fixes is allowing bots on SnapMaps and providing functionality and support for dedicated servers otherwise multiplayer dries out fast, like it already has! Then finally, a SDK.
