You’ve come here for a reason. The Union Aerospace Corporation’s massive research facility on Mars is overwhelmed by fierce and powerful demons, and only one person stands between their world and ours. As the lone DOOM Marine, you’ve been activated to do one thing – kill them all.
Dragon UnPACKer, Wwise ADPCM Converter, Batch script for handling multiple files. Guide below.
This guide seems to be pretty universal, since it worked first with the DOOM Alpha and just worked with the DOOM Beta, I'm quite sure it'll work with the official game too. (Update: It does.) It's also gonna seem a bit overcomplicated since this is how I do it, but still, it works.
First of all, you're gonna need some pre-requisites: Dragon UnPACKer, Wwise ADPCM Converter, Batch script for handling multiple files. All aforementioned things included in the download link below:
Unpack the archive wherever you want. Launch dragon.exe and let Dragon UnPACKer install itself. At one point the bastard will try to set its language to French so set it back to English. Those damn Frenchies.
Now, you've got Dragon UnPACKer up and running, head to the "File" tab and go to HyperRipper. This little boy will be your new best friend throughout the entire process. First, he must know what to look for. We go to the tab "Formats" and we leave a tick on the "WAVE/RIFF" field or simply click the "Audio" tab in the lower middle.
Now, we go to the "Search" tab. Here, we can define the Source file we're gonna rip our delicious orgasmic audio from. Click on the box with the [...] and search for anything you want inside DOOM's directory- .bnk, .pck, doesn't matter, this baby will work with everything.
After we've picked our file, let it be for example "streamed_sfx.pck" or "initial.pck" since these both are a goldmine of sounds and music, you can also use any ".bnk" file with it too. We click on "Search" and watch as HyperRipper tears our chosen archive apart in search of anything good. The entire program might get unresponsive for a while but there's nothing to worry about, It'll always finish eventually.
Now as HyperRipper finished its work, we click on "OK" to the lower right of its window and go back to Dragon UnPACKer. There's a full archive with all the ripped sounds waiting for us already. We right-click on the archive name and select "Extract all..." from the context menu.
Now this will be a bit crucial for the script to work. I set it all up so the script which utilizes wwise_ima_adpcm will send converted music to the parent folder. That means, if you for example want to have your ready files in, let's say...
C:/Users/Revie The Revenant/streamed_sfx/
...you must first create another folder inside of it which will hold the original pre-converted files. So the folder which will contain the rips is gonna be...
C:/Users/Revie The Revenant/streamed_sfx/original/
And there we go, we click on "OK" and Dragon UnPACKer will send our ripped files there.
The first thing you're gonna notice is that the audio files aren't playable by themselves. We're gonna need a converter for them, and that's where the content from the downloaded archive comes in. We've got two files, "script.bat" and "wwise_ima_adpcm.exe". We copy them both to the folder with our audio rips, also /doom_music/original/. Then we launch "script.bat" and watch as wwise_ima_adpcm.exe converts all Wwise ADPCM-encoded files into standard WAV. Some errors might occur but I don't think they're gonna be severe.
After the script is done with its job, go to the parent folder and try playing one of the files to see if it worked. If it did, congratulations, you've unpacked your first sound archive ever. And if you're already experienced with ripping, then it'll be your first DOOM sound archive ever. Now, repeat all the steps above for all the other .bnk and .pck archives. I am such a wonderful bastard.
And here comes the main feature of this post. Download links for all of my mixes and some other stuff. All of the downloadable music is in FLAC, 16bit 48000Hz to satisfy the vocal minorities.
There's also an archive all the way below which contains all the music posted below in MP3 48000Hz 320kbps.
