Im actually getting this error while using Windows XP SP2 (VMWARE). Please help me
If anyone has this game and has problems running it on windows 8(or 8.1) go to this link Virtualbox.org this download makes a virtual machine on your computer that you can install windows XP on and play the game with no problems.
Its quite clear to understand and their is an instruction manual with it.
Remember if you have windows7 you can always do this to rectify the funny colours you get when you play the game.
Press control alt del. end process explorer, then switch to dmcr to start game.
After you have finished press control alt delete goto tab users and log off.
I believe you can also do this automatically if i remember correctly......
Put this into a text document then save as dmcr.BAT (you need to be able to save as a .BAT make sure it hasnt save the file as dmcr.bat.txt)
Place the .BAT file in your game directory and make a short cut of the DMCR.BAT file and use that one in the future. Cant remember if you need the last line or not. If someone tries it let me know, ive got 8.1 and XP so its a pain to set up to test.
taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
dmcr.exe
start explorer.exe

to anyone out there - I can't even open this game, just get the message

and XP (sp1, 2 and 3) compatibility mode doesn't work nor run as administrator. I have windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I've searched everywhere for a solution to this problem but i cant find a any. please I really want to play this game.
if you have windows 7 you can start the game but it goes funny.. just do this. I cant say for xp 64bit
Press control alt del. end process explorer, then switch to dmcr to start game.
After you have finished press control alt delete goto tab users and log off.
Try to get 32 bit libraries because cossacks is a game under 32 bit OS.
I am not sure it this fix out the problem but you might try this out.
You'll have to lower your resolution settings, worked for me.
and how i do that? cause it only opens what kind of resolution you want in the end of the installation.
there are 2 patches .. one for win 7 and another for high end graphics cards
right click on the shortcut then go to properties when you have done that you click compatiblity then you should see an option that says "run program in compatibility mode" activate it then select XP in the window
below then all your probelms should be solved
