In a world plunged into darkness by a sudden eclipse, a horde of evil (yet suspiciously cute) monsters threaten to engulf everything in chaos. A glimmer of hope appears in the form of Corona, a young Mage eager to battle the assaulting waves of dark forces. Corona swears to find the source behind the attacks and stop the monsters once and for all!

Gameplay & Features

Corona is a single-player Shoot ‘em Up game for PC, with bubbly anime-style visuals. Heavily influenced by bullet hell games such as Touhou (though as developers we haven't really even played these games...), Corona features interesting characters, cute monsters and swarms upon swarms of bullets that can decimate the player with the slightest touch.

Clear the stages by destroying waves of monsters, avoiding countless bullets and struggling through desperate boss fights. Gather and manage power ups and purchase new skill levels to boost your chances for victory!

The game features:
- Two interesting campaigns with different playable characters, unique mechanics and vivid storylines to explore
- Japanese voiceovers for the two main characters
- Epic boss fights with wildly varying patterns
- Three different difficulty levels, ranging from the calmly casual to insanely difficult
- Two game modes: The story-driven Campaign Mode and the action-packed Arcade mode
- A truly rocking soundtrack composed by Ville Laaksonen (which can be downloaded here!)

Sound familiar? Corona was originally a Windows Phone 7 game released in December 2010 by Kajak Games (still found in the Windows Phone Marketplace as a Full Version and as a Demo Version). Having fallen into a state of complete inactivity, we are now resurrecting the game as a full-fledged PC game with an immense amount of updated material!

Feel like trying out Corona right now? You can download Corona Radiance, a Windows Development build converted from the original Windows Phone 7 game. Read more in our full article or download the game from the button below!

The Tanuki Teakettle is a mysterious and elusive creature... This cute little package of metal and fur may be in for the fight of his life against Vaniria, but compared to his hardships before, he may be less disheartened than one might think...

Tanuki Teakettle, awww!

Learn the secrets of the Tanuki Teakettle in the wonderful all-new Corona short story, The Tea-Maker's Tale, prepared exclusively in honor of the community that helped us choose this cute furry creature!

Miniboss Mechanics

The battle against the legendary Tanuki Teakettle is too fierce for words! Instead, watch the video below! For additional details on the creature's skills, be sure to scroll down below the video.

Skill: Steambath

Summons batches of slow-moving clouds of thick steam to cover the screen. While the clouds themselves are harmless, they obstruct vision by hiding anything that passes below them.

Skill: Teatime

Pours hot, yet extremely well-brewed tea onto the battlefield in a slowly swirling spray.

Skill: Best Served Hot

Best Served Hot

The kettle boils over, spraying hot tea and fiery embers into the air to fall over everything.

Skill: Swirl!

Summons a raging storm of sharp tea leaves to surround the area, limiting movement and preventing escape. The storm subsides only when the Tanuki Teakettle is defeated.

Whoa, whoa, hang on, what the hey. What I can catch is that Corona will have another new game or some sort. Please tell me if I'm wrong, because I've played it and reading the description made me wonder why I don't see some features that is explained (1 month away from IndieDB is quite difficult :/ )

Ah yes, we're currently making a new version, titled Corona: Shadows of Vaniria, that has a completely new campaign. The articles and updates here on our IndieDB page center this new version almost exclusively. Sadly, it's not quuuite ready to be released yet (even as a demo), but we do try to hand out information as fast as we can!

The version that can currently be downloaded here is an old development build that has some updated material that never made it to the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace, but that we sadly cannot build on any further. The codebase was simply too messy, so we had to create a completely new foundation to build on.

It's no coincidence either, I fear xD

Corona does have its roots in Touhou kinda. I saw some people play Touhou for like five minutes, and I was wondering what it would be to program something like that... Guess it kinda got out of hand from there on out.

Sadly didn't play the games very much myself. I played a bit after Corona had already been released, but I'm not exactly very good at them... Awesome games though *_*

Will this be fully free or just updates until the final release which will have a cost?

This definitely looks interesting, and I think I'll play it. But if it has a cost, It'll have to wait a while before I could purchase it. xD

Ah, it will be completely free! The stuff we're currently developing is planned to have no money-grabbing model of any kind, we're doing it just for fun~
