Conquest of Elysium 3 is an old school fantasy strategy game. You explore your surroundings conquer locations that provides the resources you need. Resources needed vary much depending on what character you are, e.g. the high priestess need places where she can gather human sacrifices, the baron needs places where tax can be collected and where iron can be mined. These resources can then be used for magic rituals and troop recruitments. The main differentiator for this game is the amount of features and special abilities that can be used. The game can be played on Windows, Linux (x86 and raspberry pi) and Mac OSX (intel and powerpc).

I've got my Burgmeister army into a stalemate against a Creeping Doom. I killed everyone else in the enemy army, however nothing can damage the Creeping Doom and the Creeping Doom can't damage my Ents. So the battle loops endlessly. Hitting fastforward seems to kill both armies and make the Ents neutral units which seems odd.

It would make more sense if both armies withdrew to their original positions after certain number of turns with no damage done to either side.

grab a few constructs, problem solved, though the actual battle result should be everybody except ents dead through battle exhaustion, should not make them neutral, therefore is bug

Using assassin types or siege weapons can help in this situation. Is the leader a Witch? Those are usually pretty weak and can be taken out by an assassin. You might not win the fight but you would stop the army, and can beat the Witch nation

I thought fatigue and exhaustion were removed from CoE3 compared to Dominions. At least I don't see the stat anywhere in the unit information.

I actually killed the witch and all the leaders in the battle, but the other enemies kept fighting. I eventually solved the problem by constructing a dragon construct which took care of the Creeping Doom quickly.

From the official CoE3 manual:

6.3.8 Battle Fatigue & Stalemate

After round 75, all units start taking Battle Fatigue damage. Damage is applied against each unit on the battlefield and starts from 1d2 armor negating magic damage on round 76. On round 77 the damage is 1d3 AN magic and the die increases by 1 on every subsequent combat round. The last army with surviving units on the battlefield wins combat.

This means that battles between very large armies may last long enough for battle fatigue to kick in and everyone will begin suffering damage. The Battle Fatigue mechanism also ensures that it is impossible for units that are mutually immune to each other’s attacks to cause the game to be caught in an infinite loop of unresolvable combat.

If such units face off in combat, the battle will be resolved by battle fatigue damage after round 75 and the most likely winner is the monster with the highest HP.
