Close Quarters was an experimental mod. My main aim was to make multiplayer Red alert games much more tactical. There are a lot of units in Red alert, but in multiplayer very few of them will get used - matches often just end up with massive tank rushes to the enemy base. That can be fun too, but I wanted to see if I could make something different in multiplayer... to put some real strategy back in. I have removed all the unecessary units and balanced those which remained. The maps are small islands, as this forces players to fight over common ore sites, and makes surprise attacks much more possible. The mod contains five unique maps which use a new rule set. This includes new and altered units. The documentation included with the mod describes what changes I have made, and how these make the game more tactical.

> Once the download is complete, extract all the files to your Red alert directory. > You might need to install the Red alert patch v1.08, if you don't already have that version. > Documentation is in the file racq.html. I recommend you read it first to understand this mod fully. > Now just run the game. The new maps will have been added to the end of your multiplayer/skirmish map list.
