Broken soul is a pixeled adventure horror game, inspired by Silent Hill and The Count Lucanor. Alex, a typical man, starts noticing some weird things happening to him. Everything seems familiar but alien. Minutes, hours, days are erased from his memories. Why has it stated? What is hidden in his lost memories? Broken soul is a personal hell of a lost person, which makes Alex meet his own demons. Should he lose to his fears or he must struggle and fight off the things his own mind hides? Find Alex’s lost memories and retain the chain of events, which drove Alex mad. Solve puzzles created by the Nightmare. It will not let you go for free. Escape and hide from the embodiments of fear. A little backstory on how it all started. A bit sad, but probably a pretty ordinary story of an indie solo developer.

Good day.

And I want to apologize at once for my sloppy English. English is not my first language and I use a lot of online translators. So please forgive me. And if something is not clear to you, write in the comments, I will try to correct the text or answer your questions in detail.

Where to begin... I will probably start with a little introduction of myself. I usually introduce myself on the internet as Katruna, but my real name is Katya. I am a painter, I graduated from university as a painter. I used to work wherever I worked. I have worked as a window dresser at the Gostiny Dvor in the center of St.Petersburg, as a bit of a painter in a copy center, as a photo retoucher with creepy newborns and as a freelance artist. For the last three and a half years I worked as a game animator, for slot machines. But at the end of that year, two weeks before the holiday of the year, I got fired. Quickly and very ugly. To this day, there's a nasty feeling that I was just a scapegoat. And at that point, I decided that now I definitely had nothing to lose and I wanted to finish at least one of my game projects.

I have always had a lot of projects and ideas. Some of them are still gathering dust in the desk and waiting for their time, some were abandoned for lack of the necessary knowledge or motivation. Now, I have decided to bring to release a project, which idea I came up with about a year ago. At that time, I bought RPG Maker MV at a discount. And I wanted to make a simple project on this engine. But I quickly burned myself on the fact that if you want to make something that goes beyond jrpg - you have to dance with the plugins for the engine, which are often also paid. So, looking for more options, I decided to move to the Game Maker studio 2 engine. Choice fell on this engine because it is geared for the creation of 2D games and has a fairly simple and flexible programming language. And it is limited only by your programming skills. I bought a license for the engine and forget it up for almost a year. That's how we got back in the timeline, to the present time. :)

I don't have a job, I still have somy money and a lot of free time, which I never had before, because I was busy at the same job. And here we go... I almost never had any problems with story ideas, graphics and game mechanics. But I'm still a bad programmer. Coming up with mechanics, layouts for the interface or character animation is not a problem, but coding it in the engine to make it work the way I want it to - so far I find it difficult, but the main thing is the process.
At this point, I'll probably end today. Next time, I think I will write more specifically about the game itself, what it will be about, at what stage of development and other things.Subscribe to my game here Broken soul and on Steam.
I hope you found this post interesting.
