LITE VERSION - DOES NOT INCLUDE FIXED CD AUDIO OR BME'S MAP PACK 2014!!! This patch fixes all major issues I've found within the digital release of Blood.
One Unit Whole Blood Steam/GOG Patch v1.2 LITE
Are you sick and tired of the bad support for Blood on digital releases? Me too! Here's a patch with contents that should fix that. Just unzip into your Blood folder and you're ready to play.
This is the ZIP version of the patch. It includes only the basic enhancements and launcher. CD quality audio tracks and BME's Map Pack 2014 Launcher can be downloaded in separate ZIP files if you don't like to use installers when possible, or if you just decide you want them later.
It's listed for Windows only, but, if you know what to do with them, a lot of the files would be useful in Linux/OS X/whatever. Just no mousewheel support would be the only problem, really. Launcher, music, etc. are all OS-independent.
Anyway, here's what it changes:
V1.0
-dosboxBlood.conf is better optimized, and has a menu for selecting Blood/Cryptic Passage/Mods/Setup/Multiplayer/Map Editor.
-Autoaim is disabled by default.
-DOSBox build with CD audio track looping fixed
-BMOUSE included and set up by default
-BLOOD.CFG set up with modern control scheme (WASD + mouse)
-CPMULTI.EXE included for multiplayer Cryptic Passage
-DOS4GW replaced with DOS32A
-Edited TILES008.ART removes Monolith watermark in mods
-Includes compiled AutoHotKey script (MOUSEWHEEL.EXE) which maps mousewheel to keyboard up/down so it can be used in DOSBox
V1.1
-Replaced older DOSBox SVN build with DOSBox SVN Daum 20150125
-Added menu for Client option in Multiplayer Menu (CONNECT.BAT)
-Added menu for Mods, with ability to load MAP and BAT files in addition to INI files
-Added ability to launch server with custom MAP/INI file
-Cleaned up code for launcher, added comments to MENU.BAT for those who wish to decipher spaghetti code
-Options can be now edited from inside launcher
-Included documentation for BMOUSE and BOOBTEAM (Oops!)
-Slight config changes (Q and R select Proximity and Remote Bombs instead of TNT and Napalm Launcher, respectively).
V1.2
-Now available as an .EXE installer for easier installation and to make certain changes optional (BLOOD.CFG, BMouse, Mousewheel support, etc.). Still avaialble in ZIP format for people biased against installers.
-Added BME's Map Pack 2014 with a menu to FULL version.
-Mods can be loaded more easily; select type of file to load from menu, type in filename when prompted, and play.
-Blood.bat converted to EXE file and renamed to DOSBOX.exe (dosbox-svn.exe is the file for DOSBox now); allows mousewheel & DOS prompt to work when launched from Steam
-Revamped options menu. I quit being lazy and now there are toggle switches instead of a plain text file to edit.
-NSET has been added to allow for user input to be taken, such as when loading a mod or changing certain options.
-Mousewheel is mapped to default Blood keys (; and ') instead of up/down arrows. Can be changed by replacing MOUSEWHEEL.EXE (Look in MOUSEWHEEL folder for three extra replacements and an example script to make your own)
-Added random map option to Launcher
I can't make midi music play correctly on Win10 with Daum. Some themes, like Unholy Volices, are completely silent. Some (like E3M1) sound like they are missing some instruments. Everything works great with Dosbox 0.74.
Interesting. Never noticed that myself, though I'm not on Win10.
You could try changing the MIDI playback device in Blood's SETUP.EXE. Not 100% sure what it's set to by default (can't check, at work), but it should be either Soundblaster or General MIDI. Try switching it between those and see if it gives any better sound.
The only other thing I could think to try would be the 64-bit DOSBox SVN Daum if you're running a 64-bit version of Windows 10, but that's 100% a shot in the dark.
Nice!! the game runs a lot smoother now...thanks
